What's bothering you?




For me, my finances are bothering me. I'm thinking I should get about $800 at the end of the year. I make about 45k, and will end up having about $5,900 withheld in taxes. I checked the tax calculator on the IRS and filled it out to the best of my knowledge, and they are saying I should get like $800 back from that calculator. I'm not good at taxes at all.

I mean I have like $8000 in the bank. I guess I'm kind of stressing a bit because I need some new tires next month, and I really don't know what to expect in costs for 4 new tires. And my electric bill is kind of harsh. I have the flat pay type deal, where you get the same bill and they attempt to flatten it out. Well, I'm paying like $156 per month, but really it has been less than $90/month for the past few months. I just hope I don't get slammed on AC this summer.

Is there any advice for like student loans? My parents told me that I can't write the interest off on my taxes, but I checked on the IRS's website, and it says that I can.

Not sure about student loans, but as for tires.. don't stress! Just call around and you might be able to find a good price where you least expect it For example, I needed 4 new tires and my mom called around Bham... there was a place that had brand new tires for way cheaper than the normal stores and they were great! I mean, they only took cash so that was a little sketch, but it all worked out and they were super nice.

Odds are, if you're single, don't have kids, or a mortgage, your deductions won't exceed the standard deduction. You could always try to use turbo tax online or tax slayer as a sanity check. Its free to fill your shit out, just have to pay when it comes to filing or printing forms (unless you meet certain criteria).

Buying tires shouldn't be too bad...

For me I feel like I've got a lot of shit that may happen in the near future that will be good for me, but its largely out of my control. Waiting fucking sucks... then there's a thing or two that I have influence in, and I'm hoping I don't fuck it up. Its been a long year or so, I need some positive shit.

Should I save more, or continue to aggressively pay off student loans? Putting $800 a month on $210 worth of payments. Saving $350 haha . That is when all is said and done, expensewise.

I'm also going to take a trip this summer. I don't want to get too much into it as it would get into my personal life. But it will cost me upwards of $2000 when its all said and done.

But I just saw $10 was done on cash advance on my CC on 2/21. I never did cash advance on my CC, or used any ATM machine in months.

I did travel home on 2/21, but the only expense on that day was lunch that I used my debit card to pay for.

$10 isn't a big deal, but I can't see any trace of that $10 going anywhere, and I never took $10 out.

So. Let me get this straight. I make a thread with the best intention of not being an asshole after people telling me that I'm an asshole.

So instead, you guys are just being assholes. I was never complaining about tires. I was just stating that I don't know how much I should expect to pay for a decent set of tires. I've bought a tire before when one blew on me on my previous car. But now I have the perfect opportunity to replace my tires the right way, and that is all at once. But no. Believe it or not. I didn't hate you. When I posted that, I didn't do it with the intention of hurting you, contrary to whatever you want to tell yourself.

Unfortunately I never really knew your wife like most people in here do. But you are a lucky man to have had her for even a little while. While nothing can ever replace your loss, nothing can ever take away the memories and good times you two shared. I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better, but I don't think anything said could help fill the void.

I'm just glad you stayed here after your wife's passing. I don't know if I could have done it. You're a stronger person than me.

I did a quick look for tires. I shouldn't pay more than $400. I drive a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. I'm thinking that I will get something like Michelin Hydro Edge. My car doesn't have ABS and wet weather isn't its strong point.
