OK, so I'm about a year out of school now, and all I've been studying is how to kill people. I'm trying to take the FE next spring before other obligations come into play. For the EE-specific portion of them exam, what can I expect to see, and do you know of any good study resources that I could use?

Take the general afternoon. You'll thank yourself later.

i took the general afternoon and failed it twice. My major was Civil Enginering. I took the civil afternoon, passed first try. I would suggest going to the E490 review class

E490 review class doesn't exactly work for me, as I am no longer an NCSU student.

Are you in Raleigh. The class will have like 300 people in it. Just take it as Audit or just go and sit down

when i took it, i was 2 years removed from college and hadn't been doing anything related to my degree

i took the general afternoon instead of the ee-specific afternoon since i didn't know a damn thing about power

i used the older version of http://www.amazon.com/Review-Manual-Preparation-Fundamentals-Engineering/dp/1591263336/ to study and passed on the first try

since you're not mechanical or civil, you're going in there with a significant disadvantage since the lion's share of the material relates to those topics

With some exceptions, unless you are really uncomfortable with your own major, I don't see the General as the right afternoon exam unless maybe you are Mechanical (since the General afternoon is sometimes easier for some MEs than the Mech afternoon). Even then I took the Mechanical afternoon myself.

i watched these and took the general, and it was a cakewalk. i started in ece before switching to ce so the basic electrical questions were gimmes.

You can download a copy of the reference manual they give you. I would take the EE, not the general in the afternoon. Go through the Electrical and Computer portion of the reference manual and make sure you understand all the concepts.

I passed it in spring 2010 and I also took the ee specific one much to my suprise. I was going to take the general but after flipping through a couple pages I was like WTFFFF. I would also suggest the e490 class as it gives you a good idea of what's on there although some of the subjects I totally didn't bother learning cuz I never took those classes. They also teach you to know the handbook and how to search for what you need to answer the questions. And remember to guess on all the ones you don't know towards the end of the test since there is no penalty
