Do people still not realize that the popular vote isn't what counts?

If it were, campaign strategies would be completely different. There'd be no concept of battleground states.

The working Trump theory is that if he campaigned in CA and NY he would have massively cut gap. Given the areas that were so anti-Trump are either minority or highly educated that's dubious at best... though of course no way to prove that.

In modern times NC hasn't been a Democratic state and it wasn't the tipping state. Sure it got caught up in the Obama groundswell in 2008 but those other three are reliably blue in recent times.
