^ Kirkman has said that nothing that happens in the comic is guaranteed to happen in the show. Example: how Dale is already dead or how long Shane lived in the TV show. Maybe alternate reality / timeline is a better way to put it that would make you happy.

i agree, show != comic.

i was just sayin' craziness happens in issue 100, that's all. nothing to do with the show. (yet? )

Makes me sad that I sold issues 1-20 a few years back before they announced the tv show.... I think I'm going to sell 21-75 when season 3 starts up.

for people with knowledge of TWD comic book series, how closely did the show finale match the comics? Was that how the governor/Rick situation was resolved?

I would have been perfectly fine with this season if the final scene was the Governor busting through the prison in the tank.

^^Not even close. The two are so far apart at this point that other than zombies, a few characters and settings, and the name of the show they are basically two different stories. The plots have less and less in common with each passing season.

yea there were some things sorta in the spirit of the storyline in the comics, but they've deviated pretty heavily.

sometimes i wonder if they just stuck to the comic more closely if the show would be better.

Though on a more serious note, I do think AMC has shown a weakness towards dealing with kids on this show. Judith should be dead and I really wonder if AMC will pull the trigger and let them have the Billy/Ben storyline carried out with Lizzie/Mika. Would really help progress the Khorl storyline.

so I was thinking that those guys in the house were the hunters, but then didn't seem all that scary except they had the drop on Rick and didn't know it (that and injured Rick managed to overpower this dude that was bigger than him), so

not exactly.

I don't believe those guys were the Hunters.

I definitely had to rewind the scene where Rick is under the bed and the guy gets choked out. When he was trying to tell the guy to stop, I thought he said "Negan", so I flipped out. After hearing it again, sounded like he said "Glenn" or "Lynn", haha. I read Negan will show up earlier than he did in the comics but read it wouldn't be this season, thought it would have been great to never show his face and just hear the name.

Starting to think the Hunters might not show up this season as I hoped unless it's on the route to the "Sanctuary" they're heading towards. Hoping that they don't skip completely over the Hunters and move straight towards Negan/Saviors/Sanctuary story.

I was hoping they wouldn't touch Negan this season or really next season.

Before we returned, the progression I hoped for was:
2nd half of this season - Group reunites, introduce Abraham, setup Hunters in season finale.
1st half of next season - Hunters
2nd half of next season - Going to Alexandria, season ends with them arriving.

Would really be a while before we would see Negan, but I know I read they were going to "remix" the story a bit, so wondering what exactly their plan is. If they lessen Negan in any capacity(save for the F-bombs), I'm going to be extremely disappointed as I think he's been the best villain in the comics so far by a landslide. Just wonder if that storyline had too many gruesome moments for them to really stay true to it.

See I am REALLY hoping the Lucille meets Glenn scene is in it. That was one of those epic scenes that really showed how evil/dangerous Negan is.

Imagine if it was Daryl that met Lucille, maaaaaan, the tv show fans would lose their shit.

It's really the most "epic" death remaining from the comics, and I think it would be most fitting of someone as big as Daryl(much better to me than him going down as "Tainted Meat").

Plus it would be the ultimate move to make Negan out as a true villain. Always felt like The Governor never had the push he needed to be seen as a true villain(where as in the comics he cut off Rick's hand and raped/beat Michonne repeatedly).

I don't think the show is ever going to get rid of Glenn, Maggie, Rick, Carl or Daryl. I think Michionne is on the table for getting it though.

I agree with Rick and Carl, but I think the other 4 are fair game.

Daryl mainly because I think he could actually use his fame to land more work. They could actually kill off Rick/Carl and change the focus of the story on Daryl if they wanted to, but highly unlikely they revamp the overall story that much.

Hard to imagine what losing Daryl would do to the ratings though, but if he met Lucille like Glenn did in the comics, it would be headline TV news(think "Red Wedding" from Game of Thrones).

The pacing for the show has been pretty painful so far this half of the season. At the current rate I'm pretty sure we won't have a chance to really see The Hunters this season. Makes me wonder if they're planning on having them in the first half of next season or just avoiding them all together? I mean I guess I could see AMC steering away from cannibals, esp. ones that ate their children.

so are Darryl's new white trash friends the hunters or not?

I think that is the same group that rick "caught sleeping"

I wonder, is the funeral home being so clean and supplied the work of Father Gabriel?

I think they've lost too many T-Doggs to kill a Michonne, especially when Sasha is such a useless/unpoular character in comparison.

I believe the funeral home was most certainly a "trap". Now whether or not that's a trap for The Hunters or for The Saviors, I really don't know.

When I saw the cross on the car, immediately thought the saviors, but at the same time, that's not really how they would work. They'd have grabbed Beth and her gear and just waited for Daryl to take his stuff too, wouldn't have been scared of the walkers.

The Hunters would make sense in this situation, but also not. Why would The Hunters use a "bait house" stocked with food to lure in people if they're starving to the point of eating their children?

Gabriel might make sense, but I read they were going to revamp his character(think he's going to be called Gaereth or something?) a bit so not really sure how they'll spin that one.

The group that finds Daryl is definitely the same group that stumbled upon Rick(you can see the guy that saw Rick among the group pointing a gun at Daryl). That has to come into play later down the line when that guy sees Rick again and they find out Rick killed one of the guys in their group.

Since Terminus can't be Alexandria...they haven't walked far enough, I bet Terminus is where the hunters live. And I bet they modified the hunters from a group of cannibal men to a community of them.

maybe rick and co are the last to arrive, realizing its a trap

and he has to play hero, and fend off the "hunters" and Darryl turns on them at a key moment

or

maybe when all seems lost, father Gabriel shows up with beth to save the day

or

the way the show is out of whack with the comics now, Ezekiel shows up with his pet tiger, who dispatches some bad guys, then hands them a box of Frosted Flakes, exclaiming "There're Greaaaaat!!!"

When I saw the grill, first thought was that it was a modified version of The Hunters. Could see them going that route, welcoming people in, letting their guards down, murder them for food. But at the same time, I think the element of The Hunters that made it a good story in the comics was the desperation in the Hunters and that they also picked off people from the group instead of going after everyone at once. Also seems like if they are able to grow food, why the need to eat people? Also thought Beth would end up being part of The Hunters, but maybe that's a different story?

Definitely not Alexandria. At first I thought maybe they'd get to Terminus and it would basically be a rehashing of Alexandria, but didn't look anything like it, not sure it would really work well with how things progressed there in the comics.

And no, they better not do Ezekiel wrong. I want them to enter the Kingdom correctly and be escorted in by the "knights" and see them refer to him as a king and such, haha.

I don't think Gareth is Gabriel, thought more likely that he was Chris from the Hunters. Maybe they'll mesh Chris with Gabriel to turn him into Gareth, haha.

I didn't think we'd see Morgan unless Rick and Abraham met earlier in the season. Once I saw Carl in the truck and saw Rick/Michonne sitting at the fire I knew shit was about to get real, haha. Glad they recreated that scene so well.

Was disappointed they didn't let Rick drop the f-bomb on that last line.

I've already come to terms that the show is going to completely do Negan wrong.

They didn't make the Governor evil enough(they did creepy right, but not vicious), so I'm trying to lower my expectations for Negan. Negan should be incredible, haha.
