fine, then you are one of maybe 4 people that are scared of spiders that hasn't been bitten by a brown recluse.

I am actually waiting for the day that one of our experimental recluses gets loose and bites someone at work because some of our techs are retarded.

no it's a caddisfly

the picture above is a pupae emerging as an adult... they make pupal cases out of rocks, sticks, and other shit so that they will blend into their surroundings and be undisturbed. They usually attach themselves to the bottom of river rocks, and you can tell it is a good ecosystem if you are in a river and turn over rocks and see a few of these guys! They are somewhat sensitive to pollution.

here is what the adults look like. they don't bite people, they make great fish and bird food!!

here's another, guess what it is!!!

IMO spiders are like cops.

You are glad they are there to get rid of some of the other pests, but you're rarely actually happy to see one.

I love* how those are the exact same trees covered in spiderwebs after the pakistani floods a year before.

I'm waiting for one of those white crab spiders to show back up. Saw one with a carpenter bee a few days ago, decided to let it enjoy its meal, then it was gone.

http://theconversation.com/centipede-venom-could-lead-to-new-class-of-pain-drug-18768

Centipede venom could lead to new class of pain drug

Quote :
"A protein found in centipede venom could be developed into a drug to treat chronic pain that is as effective as morphine but without the side effects, researchers say.

The joint Australian-Chinese study, published today in the journal PNAS, found that a small protein in the Chinese red-headed centipede proved as potent as morphine to relieve pain in mice-based experiments.

The protein, called a peptide, alters the function of the nerve channels, selectively targeting the Nav1.7 pain channel. And because it has a different target to morphine, it could be used to treat all types of chronic pain.

“Venomous arthropod predators, like centipedes, scorpions, and spiders worked out a couple of hundred million years ago that the best way to kill an insect is to target their nervous system,” explained study co-author Glenn King, from the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience. “So that’s why decided to study centipede venom.”"

see?? if you burn them all now you will regret it later when you are old and crippled and/or in lots of pain

oh, and dave says hey
