I'll be happy when Lena Dunham is no longer famous or only does things behind the camera. She is unattractive to the point that its distracting.

Oh, it's that show about how hard it is to be a privileged over-educated white girl in a parallel dimension version of Brooklyn where it's not mostly minorities.

You're not hard up if you have the option of getting anything from your parents.

The show is pretty critical of privileged over-educated white girls, you might know that if you actually bothered to watch it. And the main character gets cut off by her parents in the first episode. I think you can make a legitimate criticism of this show, but "lena dunham is ugly" and "waaaaah poor privileged white girls" don't even come close.

I can only assume that you hate nearly every other tv show that has ever taken place in NYC?

because that complaint certainly ain't unique to Girls

i guess i didnt realize how cool it was to hate on the privileged

in my opinion no one is better than anyone else and any lifestyle can provide entertainment if presented well.

lets not watch Sanford and Son because Africans are getting their water from elephant carcasses

i enjoyed seinfeld, but his cast and surroundings were fairly indicative of his location

i think How to make it in america was a much more realistic nyc show, and honestly better written as well.

and also im glad that there is a show such as this that casts normal looking people and not a cast of supermodels

it helps me get immersed in the show a little more.

You wouldn't know good writing if it bit you in the ass. Examples of dialogue from How To Make It In America:

Quote :
"Love will change your life if you let it. It just happened to me."

Quote :
"Money, right yeah it matters, but it's one piece of the puzzle. Let me tell you something. Sometimes who you are doing business with is a lot more important than the business that you are doing."

Quote :
"Those aren't even real dreads. They ain't rasta they imposta."

anyone can pick out of context lines from any show to make it sound poorly written.

No amount of context will make that writing good. This is just another in a long list of examples of you being a moron and getting pissy when it's pointed out.

This. I understand the hate... but most of the criticisms leveled are applicable to pretty much ALL television series models. Not that it makes the criticism less true, but focusing on one show in a sea of similar tropes is still pretty over the top.

Does anyone not think that Girls is just Sex in the City 2.0: Now We Have the Internet?

and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure the Internet existed in the late 90's/early 2000's

might be going out on a limb there though

wait, you mean Carrie Bradshaw didn't fax in all of her columns and carry a bag-phone in her purse?

i enjoyed the premiere. and i too, was disappointed with the Allison Williams camera magic. I really enjoy this show, but I marathon watched season 1 once they had all been recorded on my DVR. I'm debating on doing the same, or at least waiting until 4-5 are backed up.

i didn't even think about that.

i just like the sheer audacity of what he pulls, and seems to think is normal. the show plays a lot with hyperbole right?

This.

Look, Lena Dunham, I'm a straight male that is watching your show and its cool that you are super-comfortable w/ you body, but if you arent gonna show us Williams' boobs, at least dont tease us please.

Beside the fact that how they remained covered was nonsense, I mean no girl ever would take her bra off w/ a dude and then immediately cover them and in such an awkward manner. I could see after they fizzled, but before??

Her character would. She doesn't do blowjobs, she hasn't done anal, and pretty sure last season she was a missionary only gal. She is a pretty prudish hot chick. Vanilla.

I've watched the show since it started and still enjoy it; however, I also think it is overrated.

It might help if I could relate to or like any of the characters. It's entertaining which is why I watch it, but without liking or relating to any of the characters it will probably remain on my "decent" list.

i actually upset that she buckled to the criticisms about race, but at least she admits she did

that being said, i think i am interested to see what happens in that little triangle. I am actually rooting for Adam, i relate to the guy and I think he is one of the more vulnerable and sympathetic characters on the show.

and I got wood during that sex scene, no lie. And obviously Alison Williams doesnt want to be nude on camera its not some conspiracy by Dunham

that shot was still hot though...and hilarious.

it's constantly disappointing that this show, for whatever reason, always elicits the most superficial reactions/commentary from people.

rock-solid season opener, did a nice job of reintroducing the main characters, showing where they're at, and hinting at where they might be going this season. and it was funny as shit (hannah not getting the "french salon" thing, all scenes with adam, and ray calling shoshanna out on her emoji usage were all funny).

You are mistaking disinterest in the characters (who are insipid) and plot for interest only in the superficial.

If every character got hit by a truck, that would be a fine outcome by me.
