Yes she got there because she's popular and can secure sponsorship. Yes shes a woman and has used sex appeal in the past to secure rides. But there are at least 10 other drivers in that series that are worse than her. Starting with her boyfriend.

She can drive. You don't finish in the top 10 in non plate sprint cup races if you can't drive. There are just a ton of talented drivers in nascar that have been driving stock cars for alot longer than she has. She does as well if not better than a good number of drivers in similar equipment

Take any driver that didn't grow up in open wheel, and put them on a track with Danica in a open wheel car. She will walk all over them in equal equipment. Go ahead and mention how good Busch did at Indy, and I'll point how he had superior equipment.

There's not really such a thing as superior equipment in NASCAR or Indy anymore. The rules are so tight and tech inspections so rigorous that there is no room whatsoever for innovation. Hell, even John Wes townley is running Hendrick engines and still can't get a top 10.

When Danica WAS in the Busch series JRM had average equipment. No one was running up front with the stuff (outside of plate tracks), even when long time race winning Cup guys dropped down to help out. It wasn't until Rick Hendrick got more heavily involved and dropped the Eurys (same year Danica came to SHR) that the cars started performing better. The team as a whole had no finishes better than 4th in the 2 years she drove for them. Stick her out there any of the past 2 years and she's top 5-10 every week and has a win or two.
