I figured that he would be the one of the three McD AAs to have more of an immediate impact this season

^^ Kinda early in the year to say your prediction was correct don't you think. I mean, we've only played 2 games.

^^^maybe, except w/o purvis, we'd probably have to start lewis at point and zo at two. and while i'm confident lewis will provide quality back-up minutes, he's not ready to lead the team. We could still be a good team without warren, better than without purvis.... maybe. i'm just being objective.

Leave as in go to the nba?

If he has a good enough season to go in the lottery despite the lack of hype and scouts raving about "potential" then I will be pretty happy.

I said Purvis was our best freshman during the Miami-OH game and I'm sticking by my prediction

though both Purvis and Warren are as good as advertised, and I'm fucking pumped up to have em on the team

and Lewis isn't too shabby either

I like Warren's game a lot, and he has a high ceiling. But he is the benefactor of some other offensive threats. Half his points have come on easy cuts to the basket after someone else gets doubled.

My only 2 knocks on his game right now are his tad of Deshawn Painter and his FT shooting. Whenever he catches the ball around the arc he tends to immediately look for a 3(ala Painter last year).

TJ's gonna get a lot of minutes.

I think he'll split a lot of time with Wood, and get plenty of time backing-up CJL and Howell when they get in foul trouble. I think Wood should continue to start, he (Wood) might be an even bigger asset when the team doesn't need him to play 32+ minutes each game.

It's so fucking awesome to have a freshman coming off the bench who can straight-up score!

No but Painter had a knack for catching the ball at the top of the key and immediately shooting a jumper. Warren has that same issue, catch and immediately ready to shoot.

through three games warren is shooting 68%. you should not be upset about any shot he has taken.

but warren has a much better mid-range jumper. and long-range shot. and so far, he's better at finishing at the rim than Painter, he finds a way to put it in the basket.
don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Painter on this team, but Warren is a great replacement.

Hope that is a trend that continues. We can definitely play a 7-man rotation with Vandy in spot duty.

Congratulations, that is the dumbest thing I've read all day. Yes, he went 0/2 from behind the arc today, but he drained that shot yesterday. Dude finished 8/11 from the field. He needs to work on FT shooting, but he is light years ahead of Painter offensively already.

TJ is currently averaging 17 ppg, 70% shooting, including 3-6 from 3 point range. There's no fucking Deshawn Painter anywhere to be found.

He is hella benefitting off of ppl doubling down on our stars. For him to say that the "okder guys got to score finally" is a little disheartening

Who knows the context of that. It could have just been a fun jab at the upperclassmen. I don't think he's really that ignorant. He also also constantly said things like "We played great team ball" etc.

I do think his passing needs to improve a bit. Yesterday on one break he opted not to dish to Purvis and just scored it to get his 22. Today on a similar break he tried to share the ball instead, and almost ended up with a turnover. Scoring is all he knows, and he knows it damn well.

i think the fact that we have scoring potential in a variety of areas and with a variety of players makes them each more effective. having players with such a variety of skill sets all being effective is what makes the wooden high post offense so deadly. i'm just enjoying the fact that the team seems capable in so many areas - not having to rely on one player to have a great game and pull us through is a little more relaxing and fun.

^^ Yeah, the balanced scoring is really fun to watch and is going to make us less likely to have off nights. We have 4 guys (Wood, Purvis, Brown, Warren) who can knock down the 3, 4 (Leslie, Brown, Warren, Purvis) who can drive and create and 2 (Howell, Leslie) who can post up and score.

Warren's had two big games in a row, but there's not going to be a dominant scorer. And that's a good thing.

Yep, painter would only be valuable from a depth standpoint. He'd be the last guy off the bench right now.

I know its early and we haven't played anyone but if warrent keeps this up, we now probably have three all acc first teamers. Could easily have 3 second teamers too. Just sayin.

Where do you guys think penn state and umass would rank in the acc?

If Warren plays four years he'll end up one of the leading scorers in NC State history.

Before the season I was thinking he'd be a really good freshman and average around 8.5 ppg.

After seeing him I think he's 13-14 ppg. The guy just scores effortlessly around the basket and we are a great passing team. He's also going to get more minutes than I thought.

He's probably the ACC newcomer of the year and it wouldn't shock me if he snuck onto 3rd team All-ACC or better.

Needs to still improve his jumper/free throw but this guy is a nightmare 3rd or 4th option for other teams. We may end up being the best offense in the freaking nation.

Without a doubt I'd rather have the freshman TJ Warren than the freshman Harrison Barnes.

Riiiiiight. It's also been proven time and again that your reality questionable at best.

All the same, I hope he keeps it up. I'm not being negative against him or the team, but b-ball hype in November is worthless.

TJ still has freshman moments and I expect him to have more serious ones when we play good teams later in the schedule.

But you can tell basketball runs in his blood by the way he seems so natural and confident out there already Certainly cant ask for a better start to a college career!
