well to be fair, until the last 3 or so games, nobody besides Howell has really played any defense.

I don't think Purvis is a lost cause or anything, but it's clear who's developed more over the season

neither Purvis nor Warren even scored a single point versus Clemson, that was only a week and a half ago

i'm just saying its easy to say Warren is better right now when he played the best game of his career an hour and a half ago

[Edited on February 19, 2013 at 10:28 PM. Reason : they both suck at free throws]

Warren has had several 20+ point games this season.

You are totally right though. He's unquestionably the better scorer.

I didn't notice any of Purvis' defensive prowess because he's a ball hog that shoots too much and turns the ball over a lot, which pisses me off

He is super athletic and hopefully he can work on his shot selection, but I'd much rather have TJ on my team than Purvis. I'd also rather have Tyler Lewis playing PG too

Well that's one on one.

His coast to coasts of late are more like Leslie vs. entire teams.

That. Also, cptinsano is a one-liner genious, and he deserves recognition.

Thirdly, I will say this, and this is hardly the thread to put this in, but Purvis will be all-ACC next year. Mark my words.

[Edited on February 19, 2013 at 11:15 PM. Reason : but holy shit TJ's off rebounds were so fucking clutch]

Purvis' defense isn't that good. He tries to play it which is more than you can say for 80% of the team most nights yes, but he's still a freshman.

He'll be fine but he's clearly the worst of the freshmen at this point and was never close to Warren. Which is fine, because that means he'll be here as a jr/sr

^ Clearly the worst freshman? RP has had a FAR better overall season than Lewis. People tend to forget Lewis wasn't even playable until the last few weeks. Purvis is struggling at the moment, but don't get carried away. I love Tyler but he is absolutely exposed on D when teams choose to attack him. Purvis brought much more to the table tonight.

I disagree

Lewis got no playing time in the beginning, unlike Purvis. Against legit teams (Miami, Duke) Lewis played extremely well.

Purvis isn't Vandy, but Lewis proved can actually take it to the rack against decent competition

Purvis will be fine. Other than not finishing his layups, he looked pretty good in his minutes this game. He needs to get some confidence at this level...it seems like once he gets to the rim, he either goes too hard or too soft.

Dear TJ,

Your efforts last night were much appreciated. Please feel free to put up a repeat performance this weekend against the holes.

Sincerely,

^^^I agree. Maybe a time or two Purvis forced it a little last night, but for the most part he had open looks. He just wasn't able to finish those lay ups. Hopefully he'll snap out of this funk by Saturday.

And TJ Warren was awesome last night. I know FSU is not a good rebounding team, but he was cleaning up on the boards. That's definitely been one of his weaknesses this season. It'd be nice to see him to continue to improve on that going forward.

"T.J. Warren’s 31 points and 13 rebounds against the Seminoles are both career highs, topping the 22 points and eight rebounds he had in the Pack’s second game of the season, a 72-55 win over Penn State in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Nov. 15.

His 31 points ties J.J. Hickson (William & Mary, 11/15/07) and Scott Wood (1/12/10) for the third-best scoring total an NC State freshman."

Hickson was perfect that game from the field and scored 31 points, yet the team scored 66 pts against W&M. Do not miss those days.

Also: Scott Wood's 31 was against FSU as well.

wood was absolutely on fire that game. I think he was like 8-11 from 3's. Wish he'd pull one of those this weekend.

TJ Warren lit Carolina a new asshole last game and had the key basket when it looked like we might blow the lead.

He's going to be a huge factor on Saturday. Need one of his patented 7/9 FG with 16 pt type games. A few putbacks, transition points, maybe a floater, and a jumper. Love it.

He is a 3pt shot and a better FT% away from being a Paul Pierce clone.

Please to work on those in the offseason

His frosh stats are actually more impressive than Pierce's. Hopefully he just explodes next year as a 17 ppg, 8 rpg 60/40/70 guy.

Yeah, shooting 54% from 3 is pretty average

if only he had a 3pt shot, he'd be like really good

If he played on a team with a well-managed offense, he'd average 20ppg. You know its bad coaching when a wing guy is almost leading the nation in fg%.

not gonna mention how many times that it was pointed out that we don't run any plays for him.

But he still gets his points

He doesn't need plays run for him

I've never seen a player score as easily and efficiently as TJ. It's just an instinct for him -- he doesn't even really think about it.

It's huge that he can get his points without being a focal point of the offense.
