Maybe Gottfried told Purvis that Warren was going to take 100 shots a game next year

he will be our Allen Iverson next year 30+ shots a game. (if he doesn't leave that is)

He should have done that this year, with him, Howell, and Leslie trying to crash the boards. We probably would have scored on 75% of our possesions

Giglio just said on David Glenn that if the right people tell TJ he is a late first rounder it's all but guaranteed he will bounce.

He seemed to say that like it would be a shame if those people got in TJ's ear, but it is what it is.

FWIW...

How could he be a late first-rounder?

[Edited on April 2, 2013 at 1:38 PM. Reason : (late, not last)]

^^ Sounds like he's making the rounds statewide on radio today. Heard him on 610 WFNZ earlier and he said the same thing about Warren.

I haven't seen a single mock draft or ranking putting Warren in the top 30 NBA prospects this year. There is nothing to suggest that he's a 1st rounder. He's not a great athlete and his outside shooting is poor for an NBA small forward.

Hopefully someone in his ear lets him know he could be in danger of going undrafted this year.

^^^ he's a raw, uber-efficient scorer and it's a historically weak draft

^ there are a number of great, non-athletic players in the NBA

[Edited on April 2, 2013 at 1:40 PM. Reason : I mean it's not hard to see why scouts would like him. big upside.]

i assume he probably will go pro eventually. i just don't see any way he'd be a late first rounder after his freshman year.

^^ I would be willing to bet a lot of money that he doesn't get picked in the first round this year.

how is it possible that out of 30 good spots in the nba draft, ncsu players seem to think they have 3 of them? did they not realize how many other good players there are just in the ncaa, not to mention overseas players?

they're getting much better info on their prospects than you or I are

[Edited on April 2, 2013 at 2:22 PM. Reason : and it's not even about the first round. you still get paid if you're drafted in the 2nd]

well, that was the question that you responded to. "How could he be a late first rounder."

On the contrary, they are surrounded by family and friends with unrealistic expectations who are telling them what they want to hear. I remember Costner telling a reporter that he was "shocked" that he didn't get drafted. Purvis is leaving, in part, because of his mom and others convincing him that he's an incredible player and that Gott held him back.

Also, 2nd round contracts are not guaranteed. If you're an underclassman projected as a 2nd round pick, you're taking a huge gamble by going pro and hoping you stick with a team, when you could potentially improve your draft prospects and get a guaranteed, multi-year contract by staying another year.

depends who they get their information from. even if they get it direct from an nba team circumstances change if someone they didnt expect to be available is.

I've already said before CJ made a mistake in retrospect by coming back. You could argue Zo did as well although I think it was the right move, it just didn't work out.

Warren declaring would be dumb. He'd be a star next year and he's not the type of guy who is going to rise on draft boards from workouts against chairs.

they didn't make mistakes by coming back, they made mistakes by not getting better at fucking basketball in the offseason.

I sure as shit am praying he stays, but to be objective, Warren declaring would not be dumb, he's not projected much lower (if at all) than Brown or Leslie.

but he could come back his sophomore year, be THE focal point of our offense, and possibly be a lottery pick.

Draftexpress has TJ at #33 overall. He is ranked higher than Zo, CJ, Howell, Kelly, Hairston, and Bullock.

I think TJ is good but wtf.

He's got the prototypical size and skillset for an NBA 3. Maybe he doesn't have the same athletic potential as some other guys, but he could be plugged into just about any NBA roster and contribute from day one.
