Anyone with an unlimited account willing to carfax this Pontiac Vibe for me? VIN: 5Y2SP6E02AZ410294

Dealer says it's been in an accident with an animal... just wondering how bad the accident was and if it's still really worth $9995

I never even thought of asking...

... and they did show me the carfax...

11/29/2009 - Front impact with animal
11/29/2009 - Severe Damage Reported
12/09/2009 - Reported to auto auction
12/28/2009 - Auction announced as fleet/lease
...
09/07/2012 - Reported to auction
09/17/2012 - Auction announced as fleet/lease
09/19/2012 - Auction announced as frame damage

Hmmm... frame damage can be kind of vague. I remember when a tree limb fell on my WRX, insurance labeled it as "frame damage", but there was no damage after I took it to a shop. But, this is frontal impact, and not just the pillar... so I guess it's a little more iffy. Oh well, onto the next option.

Carfax is good but can be so inaccurate; check NICB's free service and purchase a title history is applicable as cars can lose their salvage brand in certain States.

TERRIBLE DEAL. Clean retail for that car is $13425. $10k for a rebuilt, salvage etc title is a ripoff.

A Carfax isn't the end all vehicle check that people think it is.

I've had 2 minor accidents in my S2000 (both self inflicted, both paid out through insurance claims):

First: front bumper repainted and remounted, new fender lining, new clear bra sections, and wheel spat - $1500

Second: new front bumper & associated hardware, slight welding of apron, new front fender, new headlight, new fender lining, wheel spat, some paint matching and new clear bra - $4600

And yet (thankfully ) my car has a clean Carfax report. You cannot tell that my car has had any work done, it's spotless. But it has had work and the average prospective buyer wouldn't have a clue.

That's because your shady mechanics didn't report it.

Never buy a car for TKE

Found another car. 2009 Toyota Matrix. 46K miles. One owner, retired folks. Pristine condition. Only $11.5K ... Ya' gotta love old people. They take such good care of their cars

I've already won the eBay auction, so it's a little late now, but I'd like to know just what I've gotten ahold of. Saw a good deal and bid-sniped that sucka.

yeah, i know, but like I give a fuck if a Prius is less slow or quieter or whatever. This is 100% a bottom-line business--I can buy it without paying a dime out of pocket, finance at 1.49%, and it will pay for it's own monthly payment in fuel savings alone (let alone tires, insurance, and maintenance/repair).

You can also buy somehwat more Insight for the dollar than Prius. The Jetta hybrids are still too new to be financially compelling. The Civic hybrids have had battery issues (although I'd prob buy one for the right price). Everything else I can think of either doesn't make the mpg #s, or has an EDR, or both.

...so yeah, it's not as good of a Prius as a Prius is, but they're also thousands of dollars cheaper. For $10,000, you'd be looking at probably something like a 2007 Prius with maybe 100k miles.

also the Civic hybrid is just brutally slow, even by fuel-miser hybrid standards.

I'd actually like to see if my old Z3 is still kicking. I sold it at 256,000 miles and it was still running. I was going to run a report, but I'll be damned if I am spending $40. If someone can hook a brotha up: 4USCJ3324VLC00441
