New bill introduced in the House today

http://www.ncleg.net/Sessions/2013/Bills/House/PDF/H84v0.pdf

It is pretty comprehensive. I've only read part of it, but it would allow doctors to prescribe for any "debilitating medical condition".

Is this for the constitutional ban on marijuana thread? Because that would make sense with what has happened lately....

This will make it about as far as a one legged horse in a glue factory.

That's a poor analogy....glue factories create value.

The polling in NC shows that only 33% of residents are opposed, 58% are for it, and 9% are undecided. People are warming up to the idea, even backwards-ass NC Republicans.

I, too, am not holding my breath. But the fact that it was even introduced is a sign of improvement. Just starting discussion and pointing out that a majority support it (^) just ups the pressure on legislators.

surprise, surprise

http://www.wral.com/house-committee-kills-medical-marijuana-bill/12131140/

The reasoning? Because lawmakers were getting too many phone calls and emails on the topic.

kudos to them for being completely honest about why they killed it, but how can they get away with that without being called out?

They'll just wave their hands and say it was only a "vocal minority" that was hitting their phones/emails.

my question is, why won't you guys harass this congressman as much as you did Ian dunne. He has waaaay more power to affect your lives and has already shown he doesnt care aside from what the lobbyists want. it might not medical marijuana it might not be gun control but eventually he's going to pass a law this going to affect you.

Ann Coulter, as she was booed out of a room full of libertarians:

Quote :
"“We’re living in a country that is 70-percent socialist, the government takes 60 percent of your money. They are taking care of your health care, of your pensions. They’re telling you who you can hire, what the regulations will be. And you want to suck up to your little liberal friends and say, ‘Oh, but we want to legalize pot.’ You know, if you’re a little more manly you would tell them what your position on employment discrimination is. How about that? But it’s always ‘We want to legalize pot.’”"

Yeah, how would we go about harassing him? Calling? Sending an email? Telling his employer? Getting his quotes put in a news article?

^^I am referring to his comments after the fact. Now is when all the emails and phone calls need to really start. For an elected official to go on record saying that receiving calls and emails from the people that put him in the office is "harassing" is rediculius. Regardless of the bill or how his views differ, listening to the people is his job.

I thought in a representative government they were supposed to listen to constituents. Now it is harassment. I guess unless you are a major corporate donor, Art Pope, or Duke Energy you are pretty much SOL.

I sent him a tweet as well:
@PaulSkipStam since when is it harassment when you are contacted by constituents in a representative government? #medicalmarijuana
