I have an odd, but somewhat serious comment...
thegoldenrul, what are your thoughts on fracking and its possible effects on the water supply?

I believe that Fracking while monetarily beneficial to those who want to export natural gas and lower energy costs for Americans, is a bad idea due to the environmental & health impact we will suffer from it. As an aside, this kind of antiquated energy technology should have long been replaced by those technologies developed and shelved by the military/industrial/defense contractors & US Patent office.

It's also a breach of private property laws if the energy companies are given the so-called "right" to push chemicals through the earth's crust beneath our feet in order to extract the energy. It should demonstrate to everyone that the corporations who run this place believe they own the planet and not humanity, since any concerns about the damage done to our water supplies or ecosystem is noise to them and not much else.

Already the damage caused by this practice is showing up in people's water supplies as you can watch them light their tap water on fire:

Fear is an illusion so no dice scaring the shit out of me but no doubt nefarious activity is going on all the time all around us. I'm not so sure how one should begin taking direct action on the info you provided but perhaps that's something you can head up since you took the time to look into it.

did you ever get a chance to find out how much arsenic was in your drinking water? it will be a pretty huge story if you find some since durham has been reporting non-detect for years.

No, I found out that the City of Raleigh purchases a chemical which is contaminated with arsenic and they systematically add it to the water for reasons you can't explain. I never said once in any of my articles or appearances that arsenic comes out of my tap water nor did anyone else in our movement, but instead question the official policy of spending over $100k/year on Hydrofluorosilicic acid which is purchased via Pencco chemical distributor and bled into our water supply.

Can you explain why they buy the chemical tainted with arsenic and add it to the water, if they are only later going to filter it out? is it because it benefits our teeth?

lol you are so silly dude

arsenic is the leading contaminant of creating HSF from phosphate ore, the NSF standard is based on it not leading to measurable arsenic levels in your drinking water. the new EPA water requirements will also be adding arsenic testing to the regular water testing, but this isn't very exciting since most already do it anyways (since arsenic is found naturally in groundwater).

i explained that before too, but maybe you missed it

So why do they spend $100,000 per year adding it to the water again? I missed that part.

and here an examples of statements on arsenic and lead from supporters made to Raleigh City Council. this person uses scare tactics and misinformation about lead and arsenic to scare people into supporting their cause:
Quote :
"Katie Haberman, 6525 Cedar Rail Road presented the following prepared statement:

Arsenic and Lead are highly toxic, but are both added to the water by the government of the City of Raleigh. Understanding that a 1956 referendum is the basis for this Council’s introduction of hazardous toxic waste products like fluoride to the water, when was the referendum voted upon that granted this Council the power to add persistent, bioaccumulative toxic chemicals like lead and arsenic to the water?

As, over many months, I have seen that this Council is opposed to spending any time discussing the adverse effects of their policies, I expect that at least the legal justification for these policies can be addressed.

Lead and arsenic are highly poisonous. Lead and arsenic poisoning typically result from ingestion of contaminated food and/or water. These are persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic chemicals. Persistent is defined as having features that allow them to resist environmental degradation, like photodissociation. Bioaccumulative chemicals are defined as chemicals that accumulate in the tissues of living organisms in ever- increasing concentrations. Toxicity is defined as having any of a diverse array of adverse health effects.

The EPA lists many health problems caused by lead like interference with formation of red blood cells, anemia, kidney damage, impaired reproductive function, impaired cognitive performance, delayed neurological and physical development, elevations in blood pressure. The agency also suggests lead may be a carcinogen, causing kidney tumors and types of leukemia.

Arsenic is notoriously toxic to multi-cellular life, even in concentrations as low as 0.17ppb. It is certainly a good practice to avoid ingesting lead and arsenic, yet this Council adds it to the water and ensures that lead is leached from brass joints in water pipes as a result of fluoridation.

The bottom line is chemistry. The highly reactive fluorides you add to the water combine with the persistent bioaccumulative toxins you add, or that are leached into the water, creating a toxic cocktail by the time it reaches the tap of the consumer.

I have not been able to find a record of a referendum granting this Council the power to expose the population to graduated levels of PBT’s like lead and arsenic. Help me understand the basis for elevating my risk of exposure to PBT’s.

City Attorney McCormick, when was the referendum voted upon that granted this Council the power to add persistent bioaccumulative toxic chemicals, like lead and arsenic, to the water supply?

I would argue that there's nothing in it for the cities or the people who live in them. It costs a lot of money, it's hazardous to administer to the water supply, and we all suffer from having to drink the stuff since forming in the womb of our mothers.

Why the cities continue to do it and refuse to change it is an entirely different topic.

The main driver of this policy is the department of "health" who will swoop in and give a sales pitch on behalf of the fertilizer industry to keep this in the water. They mainly repeat an old ADA script written years ago to swat anti-fluoridationists away.

See Jean Spratt DDS testify: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGDvDdtCXk0

The department of health is overrun by the dental lobby who is always quick to champion this "vast achievement of public health", and most of the dentists who support it are indoctrinated when they go through the academic ringer to believe ingesting fluoride via the water supply is beneficial to our teeth. Here is a dentist in Durham who disagrees with fluoridation and built his practice around that philosophy, so not all dentists believe this:

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news&id=5750692

Of course almost no dentist will say this is their professional opinion since it is in violation of their license. Being a dentist and not an internal medicine doctor means they are not qualified to comment on how ingested fluorides affect all organs of the body since they don't study that...so when deluded dentists sit on city panels to push this issue I urge everyone to ignore them. If they were talking about topical application of fluoride we should listen but they aren't so I don't.

Part of the problem is the compartmentalization of government, and the relegation of authority from one group to another instead of an independently critical evaluation of the issue.

For example in Durham I initially went to City Council with this information, but was then sent to the water management department, who then sent me back to the city council before I was referred to the public health board...After working with the public health board they decided to "look into the issue" by inviting a panel chaired by almost all state paid "experts" who all happen to support fluoridation. Why each individual can't look to their own intellect to understand the issue and instead need to listen to a government paid employee's opinion on it to decide, I will never know.

When they had their hearing on the issue this past march, they brought a deputy sheriff to the hearing and said any citizens who disrupt the proceedings (thus exposing the deceptions perpetrated) would be escorted out of the building. I was then summarily removed when the panel tried to say naturally occuring groundwater fluoride was added to the water (MYTH) and not the chemical they state on their own website Hydrofluorosilicic acid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aRJlwrbAr4

You tell ME what's in it for the city if they would go to such lengths to prevent an honest discussion on the issue.

Please tell us, because I don't remember you ever explaining why 1000s of local governments give this money to fertilizer companies to dispose of the fertilizer companies' waste.

^not to be rude, but that's a lot of words, and it seems that you don't have an answer for why cities would use their already strapped resources to help fertilizer companies get rid of their waste. It seems that would be a very important part of your argument. Without it, it just doesn't make any sense.

I just don't even know how to respond to something as illogical and nonsensical as this anymore.

It costs less than a dollar per person per year to offer this treatment.

Found this funny while I was researching how to get through to people like this:

Quote :
"
1. The average conspiracy theorist will argue with NASA, Nobel-prize winners and every expert in the world despite having fewer qualifications than the average fry cook.
2. Conspiracy theorists view logical argument as cheating.
3. Like pissing fetishes and tentacle rape comics, conspiracy theories are a problem made much worse by the Internet.
4. Never assume malice when incompetence will do.

Conspiracy theorists divide the world into "Everyone even remotely involved/qualified vs. Me," and decide that they'll win single-handedly. They're like Rambo with bullshit instead of bullets.
They tend to enjoy the ego-boost that comes with thinking of oneself as the only intelligent objector in a world of sheeple. When the government has to spend billions of dollars shuttling Elvis from Roswell to the Bermuda Triangle and back in black helicopters before you can feel good about yourself, you've got to be pretty tragic.

Conspiracy theorists display incredible attention to detail, an even more incredible ability to ignore details they don't like, obsessive focus and a complete absence of social skills.

If you could read more than a paragraph before hitting "reply" you'd realize it's not a treatment.

Further if you had a decent soul and weren't a collectivist you'd see the immorality of medicating everyone by force through the water supply.

Incredibly poor comprehension & critical thinking skills for a so-called educated person.

You're making it out to seem like the fluoride is purely negative and has no benefits to be weighed. It DOES improve dental health and there are, so far, no proven side effects at low doses other than fluorosis, which is cosmetic and mostly non-permanent.

There are reasons to be wary of fluoridation, but you don't make a good case when you deny that there are positives.

That's a damn shame isn't it? If the water is medicated consequently all food made with said water is also medicated so you raise a good point. It should be news to no one that our agriculture & food system here is likewise tainted by corporate interests but I am sure this is just another topic to laugh at as a defense mechanism.

Of course I know you're being facetious in typical fashion, wearing ignorance and hostility like a suit of armor to delude yourself into believing you're immune to the things that have been done to you since before and after your birth...It's really the coward's way of addressing his/her own inability to cope with the harsh reality of this toxic planet... a kind of cloak he puts on which gives the false sense that "all is ok, it won't affect me! The crazy man doesn't know what he's talking about!" Riiiight.

But I understand what kind of ill mind behaves like this and feel a lot of sorrow for the number of like minds out there which like you are so intransigent about the current state of the world.

So, let me pose this question. Would you object if they used calcium fluoride as the additive instead of hydrofluorosilicic acid? Calcium fluoride is naturally occuring.
