I think people are reading too much in to the lack of names in the allegations. The LOIC goes beyond just a name and lumps in the entire M/W bball and football teams as being the main part of their lack of control.

i'd be like saying "well, at least I didn't get a ticket for my break light that's out" on your vehicular manslaughter ticket

EVeryone knew that they wouldn't cooperate.

Again, there still seems to be stuff that PP is sitting on...so this won't go away anytime soon.

It may even get worse, especially if the stuff PP has happened while they were on probation.

DG on the radio claiming it wasn't as bad as he thought and doesn't mention penalties in the NOA...NO SHIT.

He is an idiot, I had to turn the channel after he said that.

What is this shit:

Quote :
"AFAM and that 10 athletes exceeded indep study course limits "

Just 10 athletes?? Or are these the only ones that they could confirm (ie...these guys cooperated with the NCAA and admitted that they took bogus classes)?

Because there were obviously a shit-load more than 10 athletes. If its just 10, there better be some fuckers on those natty teams (obviously McCants should be one).

you can take independent study courses. but once you pass a threshold of hours (i think 12), you are ineligible. any of these 10 people playing would mean they played ineligible players

This is fucking gold:

Quote :
"the institution exhibited a lack of institutional control in regard to the special arrangements constituting impermissible benefits athletics academic counselorsand staff within African and Afro-American Studies (AFRI/AFAM) department provided to student-athletes. Specifically, individuals in the academic administration on campus, particularly in the college of arts and sciences, did not sufficiently monitor the AFRI/AFAM and ASPSA departments or provide appropriate supervision for these academic units and their staffs. The AFRI/AFAM department created anomalous courses that went unchecked for 18 years. This allowed individuals within ASPSA to use these courses through special arrangements to maintain the eligibility of academically at-risk student-athletes, particularly in the sports of football, men's basketball and women's basketball. Although the general student body also had access to the anomalous AFRI/AFAM courses, student-athletes received preferential access to these anomalous courses, enrolled in these anomalous courses at a disproportionate rate to that of the general student body and received other impermissible benefits not available to the general student body in connection with these courses.""

Wasn't football still on probation then? Also Medlin mentions that the NCAA wants the UNC media guides for the last 4 years. What's that all about?

What about the Pell Grant fraud too?

No. They had two national championships during that span. They probably could have gone back all the way to 1993...but I definitely wasn't expecting it. That would have been the cherry on the mother fucking top...but to find cheating during Roy's two-championship reign is what I was looking for. Now let's just hope they strip them.

First thing I noticed... but I believe there's another reference in that doc to "18 years"

I'd have to go back and skim it again.

Edit: The reference to 18 years is in jbrick83's post.

UNC knew EXACTLY what they were doing afterwards...they fired 3 out of the 5 people that were mentioned specifically in the allegations.

They have been planning for this shit for awhile now.

Delay delay delay...and that tactic seems to have worked...until PP comes along.

I still have faith in those old dudes.

Best Comments from UNC Fans:

Quote :
"Let's be realistic. We committed a massive academic fraud, and we deserve to be punished. I know the question is how much, and I don't know the answer, but I just get tired when people try to defend the situation and make it seem like UNC did very little wrong. It's an embarrassing scandal, but I'm ready for it to be behind us and to know forward, as the University has already put so many corrective measures in place and the academics are stronger than ever."

Quote :
"That honestly surprises me, considering more non-athletes took these classes than athletes.

Here's the main thing to remember...
This isn't one sport in particular, so don't get caught up in how many times any specific sport is mentioned.

this is LOIC for the WHOLE athletic department. ALL OF THEM.

Basketball and especially football are in deep deep water.

And I say that because near the end of the NOA it asks for MORE information from UNC...which means more may be added on...things they didn't have access to...more infractions would be awesome.

David Glenn is sticking with the story that banners won't come down because the ncaa didn't site anywhere that the classes/grades were fraudulent and thus no players are considered academically ineligible.

Also he's in the Roy/Larry weren't specifically named so their jobs arent at risk camp.

I can't stand David Glenn when it comes to legal stuff, I know he was a lawyer, but he gets a little high and mighty when explaining the process and implications

^^All major sports, yes...Bball, Fball, Soccer, baseball...

^DG is an idiot, he hasn't been right on ANY of this yet. He keeps making up stuff and will continue to be wrong. i don't listen to him at all anymore.

Also, this is on a level that the NCAA hasn't touched in awhile. These are some especially HARSH allegations..all true obviously, but I would expect vacated wins, post season bans, reduced scholarships and a little more.

The only thing...if PP has anything that they've been holding onto like some claim that would add to this and make it a death penalty case...because its honestly not far off from it. In my view and comparing it to other cases and the new matrix.

Yeah I had to comment on that idiots post.

One of the big storylines over the past few weeks is how the current players don't deserve to be punished. Everyone talks about how it would be soooo sad for Marcus Paige to lose his senior season because of something he had nothing to do with.

The consensus I have seen from carolina fans is "the wins may be vacated, but they aren't going to take down the banners. They will still hang, and that's what matters."

The only reasons that banners matter is because Carolina fans will think nothing really happened if they still have the banners. Other than that, nobody gives a fuck about them.
