Also, at least in this movie, there isn't much of a tie in [yet] with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so if you haven't seen the Avengers or whatever this is still really easy to follow. Although I can't imagine that there are too many people going to see this that haven't seen the other Marvel films.

Minor Spoilers:
So anyone who has read the comic -- Does it explain why everyone speaks English? I was just wondering if there was any kind of "universal translator" like Star Trek has.

Also, does that mask that Star Lord activates actually cover his whole body with some kind of force field or something when he turns it on? The parts when he was floating in space and had it on looked like his hands and hair were fully exposed.

The post credits scene from Thor had them delivering the red infinity stone to the Collector right? And he was like "Only 5 more to go", so that would imply that after his museum exploded and they took the purple one, the red one was still there hidden among the rubble.

I think a universal translator is a given, considering that we see Ronan talking to Xandarians without any trouble. I think Quill's is probably built into the helmet considering that it collapses into an earpiece that looks sort of like a hearing aid.

The film doesn't specify that he has any protection when in space, but his exposure is limited for the most part except for when he (spoilers) rescues Gamora after the Ravagers come after the orb. And then, his skin frosts over and shit due to evaporative cooling, which was a neat touch.

P.S. Elwood, Howard's flick didn't require any knowledge of the comic whatsoever.

^^^Please calm yourself, sir. Thor: The Dark World came out in November so if you haven't seen it yet you shouldn't be complaining about spoilers.

I'd be more concerned about how that hollowed out space skull is able to maintain a constant gravitational field on the inside.

This movie was incredible and had some hilarious lines/moments.

"I just got a message from Quill, he wants to help. He says, and I'm quoting, 'I may be an asshole, but I'm not 100% dick'"

"Do you believe him?"

"Well I don't think anyone is 100% dick"

The movie was amazing. Might be my favorite Marvel movie to date. Avengers is the only real competition I think. Was a fun watch all the way through.

This movie worked on so many levels. I have faith in JJ Abrams to get the next Star Wars right, but this movie did all the things the prequels screwed up. It deserves all the praise it's getting.

I liked it. I enjoyed Howard the duck at the end. SPOILER. It reminded me of the 5th Element, which I love. It was cartoonist humor. That's why I rolled my eyes when i see people ask serious questions about it.

Vin Diesel didnt even get out of his car to get a paycheck.

I wish Thanos would have done something. I might have to wait 2000 moons for that.

The Rocket raccoon stole the show. I guess Chris Pratt did a good job.

The redneck from Walking Dead played a redneck blue guy. genius

There is indeed. If you read Quill's rap sheet quickly enough while he's being processed, one of the lines in it indicates that he has a translator implanted in his neck.

Really good movie, and a legitimately funny movie. Plenty of laugh out loud moments, one liners, etc. Dave Bautista was actually really good too, which surprised the shit out of me.

I'm sure they're out there, but I have a hard time thinking there will be people who don't enjoy this movie.

Would have been nice if Thanos was more involved or more of an imminent threat, but I'm assuming they'll be some more slow build with him over the next couple of movies. So far he's just been pulling strings, I can't wait until they show him actually doing some damage and revealing the kind of power he has.

That bit where they're all arguing about the plan and Bautista says something like, "I wasn't listening I was thinking about something else" had me in stitches.

Honestly had low expectations going into the movie and was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I did laugh out loud a couple of times. Going to a Movie Tavern to see a movie is by far the only way to go as they bring you beer while you are still seated.

wikipedia says Groot has been "killed" on at least 3 different occasions only to regrow from a sapling. So I doubt you can take a piece of Groot and grow another separate Groot. I am Groot

Avengers, GOTG and Captain 2 are a strong 1-2-3. Any order really I wouldn't disagree with. The first Ironman was really good but is getting older and out of people's minds. The other two Ironman movies lacked a bit. Thor was good, but not on the other movies levels. Captain 1 wasn't all that great. Hulk...no comment.

^guardians was an extremely fun movie, but definitely had room for improvement, especially in fight choreography, Gamora vs Nebula should have been an insanely memorable awesome brawl between 2 people that were literally described as living weapons, but it was one of the least memorable things from the movie, and that's one big area where cap 2 moved soooo far up from 1, it had incredible fight scenes, where 1's were very lackluster

GotG was fantastic

I still keep Avengers and Cap 2 above it.

Cap 1 is daredevil level bad; it shouldnt be brought up here.

It wasn't the best movie, but I really have to question the judgment of someone who compares Captain America: The First Avenger to Daredevil.

cap 1 was only "bad" because it tried to take itself much more seriously than a comic movie should. The tone was too pseudoserious for what the movie was.

Cap 2 fixed that, and thus everyone loves it.

cap 1 was fine. it was by no means daredevil

Yeah, you people who dislike the first Captain America are basically idiot children with horrible taste in movies, and your parents don't like you, and I don't like you, either.

The accepted power rankings are Iron Man, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Thor. All others occupy the same basic plane of quality. You are human shit if you dislike the first Captain America or Guardians of the Galaxy.

TEST ME ON THIS
