List them up.

Almost all mods done purely for style frustrate me. Especially if it was originally done for speed. (Bbs lms)

Things that are multiplied purely for penis extending reasons

I.e. 10" of lift will fit the biggest street legal tires on x truck
But someone lifts it 18" and runs those same tires

Or double blowers are better than 1 etc.

- inefficient traction bar designs (see 'pullin' trucks)

- suspension members with ridiculous design which were built by someone who thinks its functional (saw a 'rib' on the top side of an axle one time intended to be a truss)

- Adding the "HP" of modifications to guess one's power

- open exhaust on slow cars at drag strip

- modifications that make it harder/unpleasant to drive street driven vehicles (I'm guilty of this, and want to do better)

- any one thing that falls under the term "Oraler" for a diesel enthusiast

What ever the fuck those people do to make their trucks sound louder than the thing would with straight pipes.

Sounds like an engine running through a tuna.

People with their shit cars, lowered, with a custom exhaust for their 4 cylinder, biggest ass spoiler imaginable for a car with a top speed of 90, with unpainted, yet primed, front and rear facias that appear to have been run over every object imaginable. Oh yeah, throw in that they have a K&N sticker on the window.

please give me all your lame, unwanted BBS LMS wheels kthx

my pet peeves are more general:

people who drive under the speed limit on a 2-lane road
cars that smoke oily blue all the time
obnoxiously loud Harleys (WTF is up with that? It's as loud as open downpipe...)

240sx ad:

Quote :
"For sale is a project I've had sitting around for a few months that I do not have time for, and I need money for a family emergency.
The bad:

The car is NOT running. Needs a starter and battery. I have not had any luck push starting it.

Once the car is running, it will need a new steering rack. I wouldn't recommend driving it until this is done because of the nasty play causing the front wheels to shake after 35+ MPH. Apprx $300

Next, a bolt hole where the intake manifold meets the cylinder head is stripped out. Until this is fixed, the car won't make boost. Cheap to fix parts-wise, but it's kinda tricky if you've never retapped/helicoiled a bolt hole before.

Those three things will get the car running and earning you speeding tickets.

The less critical issues that should still be addressed:

The turbo needs to be rebuilt. It's a T3/T4 and frankly isn't that big a deal. Probably the cheapest and simplest turbo to rebuild.

The head gasket is a little goobered. I recommend replacing it.

At some point the whole motor could use a freshening up with new gaskets and a good clean/rebuild

The headlights are HIDs with cheap ballasts. One got wet and blew. Fortunately, they're cheap ballasts. $16 will have both headlights back up.

Now for the goodies.

Motor

SR20DET
HKS 264/264 (I believe!!) cams
CP Pistons w/ Nitrided rings
T3/T4 60 Trim @ 18lbs/12lbs/7lbs (Three programs on controller)
Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller
Larger injectors (I can't remember the size, I believe 550s)
Spitfire Ignition
Apexi PowerFC engine management with FC Commander
Aftermarket radiator with electric fan. I recommend switching to dual fan
Nice big front mount intercooler

Suspension/Brakes

Full Cusco coilover suspension
Rear swaybar
Custom driveshaft
300ZX brake conversion - Could use new pads
180sx LSD

Interior

Assorted gauges that fell in to disrepair and I never bothered to fix them. The wideband isn't hooked up, the boost guage needs to be calibrated, and I just don't trust the oil pressure or water temp gauges. I use the AVC-R and PowerFC for all my data. They are much more accurate. Get used to metric, though!

Skyline GTS seats

There are obviously lots more mods than these, I just pointed out the key ones. Feel free to shoot me questions.

$2900"

Dual CB antennas on anything other than an 18-wheeler.

Retards that drive old ass hoopties with 24" rims and shitty paint.

I hate (seemingly) how almost every car under the sun has a dual exhaust. Pretty sure the Miata, Mazda3, Mazda6, Mazda CX-5, Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ, Nissan Altima, Sonata/Optima, insert random SUV here: ______ , etc, etc don't need dual exhaust. In most cases it's just extra weight.

(just the cars that came to mind immediately)

Part of me hates... Part of me
Likes symmetry...

On some cars I don't know what wins.

On my subie it aggravated me because the split made a funky sound that stis didn't have and ruined the boxer burble.

I guess that's my opinion if it ever goes down to 1 pipe it should stay there.

I'm actually cool with any mods for any kind of Motorsport I'm cool with aesthetic mods that don't mimic Motorsport mods or have performance consequences.

Slicks and skinniest... If your car needs it go for it. Now if you did it on a stock Camaro v6 I'd want to slap you. Or worse yet a car that used to handle well like a stock 2sk or something.

car club & 'catchy' stickers.... and the larger they are, the more pissed I get.

- "Torqued Atmosphere" local club, fucking windshield banners. Bunch of imports.

- Diesel Oralers... from the Cummins "C" to the stupid sexual innuendo phrases like "Cum on this" or the like. Saw a guy at a dyno day with his back glass covered in some stupid vinyl sticker saying something to that effect, who laid down 3xx whp.

- imports with random sticker placement (see pic above)

- cheap/fake wraps

- LKN & Salt Life stickers

Power seats, especially in combination of some mechanical, some electric. just do all mechanical for fuck's sake. I'd like to lump power windows in here too, but they are pretty convenient.

Poor visibility. Those 2' wide c-pillars sure look dope. Too bad you can't see through them.

Touch-screen stereo head units. Thanks for making me HAVE to look to accomplish anything other than changing the volume. Great.

Shitty cup holders. More like drink-spillers. "I'm sure this spindly piece of plastic will hold a container full of liquid in a moving car." they said. Assholes.

Fucking rear windows that don't go down all the way. WTF? This has been pissing me off since I was a kid. Actually it might have pissed me off more then because I was more likely to be back there, but still, I don't get it.

VW rear doors that make you pull the handle twice to get out. All the time people ask me why the child lock is on. I have to explain that you just have to pull twice and no, I have no idea why they do that.

It really irks me that you can't get a decent CRX anymore. RIP

Usually the rear wheel well shapes the back end of the rear door and thus, you cannot put the window down all the way b/c there physically is no room for the glass.

^I was going to point out the same thing. If you want rear windows that go all the way down usually you get split glass in the bargain, which looks kind of crappy. (But I'lll deal with a slim black bar in return for the window going all the way down, in most cases.)

^^ I have no desire to go to a gathering where people show off street legal cars, meet me at a track or before a group ride/drive through the middle of nowhere at high speeds.

also, i've yet to read a magazine that was remotely accurate or worthwhile as a reference to track capability. if such a thing existed, it would hate 90+% of all cars and would never make any money. the magazines are all sales and advertising vehicles and nothing more.

convertibles with the top down and the windows up

people not pulling into the intersection while waiting for a break in traffic to turn left

people pulling out in front of me in traffic and then not hitting the gas and getting the fuck out of the way. if you pull out in front of someone and they have to let off the throttle to keep from hitting you, you are fucking wrong.

and people driving in the left lane when they aren't passing. goddammit that pisses me off. it is one of my biggest pet peeves in all of life, let alone specific to automotivedom.

What's so wrong with that? I would do it all the time. Sometimes I don't want a roof, but I also don't want the wind blasting me in the face. And if it's hot out, leaving the windows up makes the AC more effective at keeping you cool. And in the winter time when it's 40-50° outside it makes the heat more effective as well. And if you're on the interstate and have a weak stereo (hello S2000) leaving the windows up makes it much easier to hear the music. Nevermind driving for extended amounts of time on the interstate with the top down & windows down can lead to permanent hearing damage.

Quote :

You're doing it wrong. People gather at C&C to share their passion for all things automotive. Sure some assholes/poseurs show up, but that happens with any large group of people, regardless of topic/interest. Don't like it don't go, big whoop.

My driver's ed teacher back in the day instructed us on multiple occasions to pull forward when attempting to turn left on green for the same reason described above. I always figured that excuse wouldn't fly if I ever got in trouble for it.

I'll add a couple of my pet peeves...
Off-center decals/stickers that the person meant to center but failed miserably
The monograms that are way too spread out and typically uneven like x____X______x.
Slappy, hollow sounding exhaust on trucks just so they are louder... you've got a nice V8 that could sound wonderful and you go and pull that bullshit.
Spoilers on pickup trucks
6" dia. vertical stack(s) exhaust on diesel pickups, especially the ones without flappers or bends that they cover with a bucket when it rains.
