Yeah I don't quite understand this one. It's not going to get a whole lot warmer later in the day. The high is still well below freezing.

Real Americans will make their kids stand outside the two extra hours to show Obama he can't take their freedom.

as someone who had to be at their bus stop at 5:45 every morning of middle school, I completely understand why there is a delay

Kids don't stand at bus stops. Parents drive kids to the bus top, then they wait in the idling car, then parents walk them from the car to the bus.

Not in my neighborhood. This morning in the driving rain they were all just standing there getting soaked.

What the fuck do they do in other parts of the country? Too cold for school. USA #1.

they've already closed schools in the midwest

but even if they hadn't, it's ridiculous to assume that the entire country is prepared to deal with this level of cold

Schools down here (FL) are closed completely due to temperature, but it makes a bit more sense. Most kids down here don't have the clothing to deal with 20 degree weather.

Nerp. I spent every morning waiting with the rest of the teeth chatterers for that damn bus. Middle school sucked especially since we lived way out near Wake Forest and went to Ligon. Had to be at the stop by 6, or you'd miss it. We were also the first stop on an hour long route, so once you were on the bus it was still freezing.

We'd get lucky if either our parents had an early meeting and could drop us at the stop on the way to work, or a friend's parent decided to let them sit in an idle car and invited you to join.

All the kids in our neighborhood do the same thing, there's no warm idling car to sit in. The only difference is the grade schoolers, whose parents stand with them at the stop, but still no cars.

That was before, but now there are terror alerts and amber alerts and Nancy Grace and shit so kids aren't allowed to stand by a bus stop on their own. (At least not in nice neighborhoods with rich parents they aren't)

This is makes more sense than canceling bc of a light snow dusting.

Our busses also have major mechanical issues once the temperature drops to a certain level.
