Backyard Produce & Market is a fast-growing, socially and environmentally responsible company based in the Raleigh area. Our primary business is a residential delivery service that works with local farms and organic producers to bring fresh, organic produce, dairy, meats, breads, and artisan dry goods right to people's doors. Customers go online to place their order and we pack and deliver them weekly. We've been refining this new way of getting real food from the farm to the table in Raleigh since 2010. We're a team-oriented company and we value our customers, lasting relationships, integrity, sustainability, and dedication.

We are in need of a few part time delivery drivers in the Triangle area. This is a three day a week position on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Our ideal candidate:
• Dependable transportation, mandatory (preferably an SUV or minivan)
• GPS or GPS app on your phone, mandatory
• Ability to lift as much as 20 pounds
• Strong communication skills
• Positive attitude!

You will be meeting up with our team in Raleigh and picking up approximately 30 produce boxes to deliver to peoples homes and an occasional business. There is no money to be collected (everything has already been paid for), and there is limited interaction with our customers. The boxes are about 12" x 6" x 18" and weight around 10 lbs each.

If you think you may be a fit, please respond with your email address, phone number and a resume.

This is a legitimate opportunity to get on board with a quickly growing company. For more information on the company, please check us out at http://www.byproduce.com. Starting pay is $9 per hr and $0.30 per mile. You can expect around 7 hours and around 100 miles per shift.

Please email me your resume: karen@byproduce.com

I wouldn't even advise that. If it was a job where you could drive some POS shoebox with good gas mileage, #.30/mi would be laughable, but a good job to bridge employment. A truck or SUV on that rate would most likely end up costing you money.

The IRS recommends $.56/mile, almost twice what this crap job offers.

I worked as a courier for a while during college (for a lot more than that per hour pay) and can tell you, 100 miles/day seems extremely conservative. 7 hours of deliveries is more likely to add several hundred miles/day on your personal vehicle. The trucks we used were out on delivery 5-7 hours a day, 5 days a week, and they retired them every 2 years or so because they became more expensive to maintain than to just buy a new one.

I hope any users or lurkers still in college realize that unless this is your first job ever, you can make more than $9/hr. Hell, the average suggested rate for babysitting in this area is $11.25/hr, and you get to sit around and watch cartoons.

But, they're socially responsible, so they are committed to paying a fair wage!

You can make more than $9 an hour working in a cell phone store and not waste gas or put an abnormal amount of wear and tear on your car.

The guys that run the company are good people. If someone has interest, perhaps they should apply and counter at a higher mileage reimbursement rate.

This is Classifieds, not Chit Chat, so cut the dude some slack.

So you've worked for this company?

Edit: Low balling inexperience workers/college kids for a job isn't the "good people" vibe I get here. Seriously, just do a job search for "driver" and you'll find several similar offers that are higher $/hr and provide a company vehicle.

If one of the steps in getting the job is having to negotiate for fair pay you're going to have a bad time, even if you get it. And don't mistake a company that has good PR rep, and great client service with one that does well with its employees.

yep, we're all just sitting at home collecting our government checks, so none of us are interested in employment.
