Obviously this says a lot about what one publishes online and the persona that one creates outside of situations like these, but it also gets down to the fundamental conflict of narratives in cases like these. Cases like George Zimmerman's and Theodore Wafer's and this should make us question the message we're sending black teens.

Multiple eyewitness accounts say nothing about the kid attacking a police officer.

News articles also gloss over the fact that the body lay in a pool of blood in the middle of the street for hours, unattended to by medical professionals while police from multiple precincts came in and tried to close off the town.

Let's be real here, the police killed an innocent kid, tried to control the narrative, militarized a town, and fabricated a story after the fact. It's like we're in some goddamned 3rd world country, and some of you dumb fucks are lapping it up and displacing blame because a small minority busted up a few shops.

I believe the police were wrong in this situation and hope that justice is on the side of the killed teen. Regardless the pillaging and looting I have heard going on in the wake of this incident is incredibly ridiculous and does not help the cause of those minorities who feel the police unjustly killed a member of their community.

Can someone please explain the looting from a mob mentality standpoint. It almost seems that the murder of the kid merely gave an excuse to a subset of the protesting population to go ballistic and to act barbarians.

we don't know anything about the innocence of the deceased or if the shooting was justified at this point. If the police car has a random bullet hole in it coming from some confrontation that occurred like the police are claiming, there's got to be more to this story than "racist cop grabs kid through the window, kid runs away, gets shot repeatedly" like the media is currently hyping up.

The only thing we seem to know for certain right now is that there are some opportunistic shitheads out there using this tragedy as an excuse to go steal shit.

^^^ the narrative depends on who you want to believe. The cops say he was resisting and fighting for an officers gun. Some eyewitnesses say he was running away. Other reports say he was a known gang member. The truth isn't known yet. The bigger story has become the looting and rioting and people making this racial like I alluded to by the twitter statements telling the looter to go burn white neighborhoods. As far as I know, the officer has not even been publically identified yet. There is a good chance he's not even white

The whole premise of this article is weird. Trayvon had pictures of him as a kid plastered all over the national media. The conservative media circles are abhorrent and far more dangerous than the 'liberal media,' don't get me wrong, but using Trayvon as an example is off point.
