Talk me out of it....

After owning for about 4 years & 8,000 miles, the time may have finally come to let someone else enjoy the crazy, sexy beast. I wish I could get her out on the road more often, but she is a garage queen that I don't have time for anymore.

On the fence at the moment on whether I should list or not.

That is the opposite of talking me out of it

I was debating one last hurrah and driving it to a big auction somewhere. I just know I'll be kicking myself a few years down the road for letting it go though...

keep it or keep it in the family. I have traded/sold many things to my friends only to get them back when I needed them most. Plus you get to visit/ride in it whenever you want

^^ The other 1996/1997s (within 500 miles) on AutoTrader are listed at an average of $40,286

Only 2 of those are Blue & White. $50,999 and $48,500 are their list prices.

With mine having 40k miles I would ask low 40s and leave room for negotiation. I'm not sure, that is just off the top of my head.

Yep.

I expect that will ultimately be the fate of my 7. I need to get a job and track it a few times first, though.

I'll never understand people that spend big money on a car and never drive it. The term "garage queen" makes my head hurt. You could just drive the car. I would never drop that kibd of cash on a car and drive it 2k miles a year. GLWS

it'd be hard since I spend 60% of my time on 2 wheels, but if I had a viper, I'd DD it.

If I had that car it'd get 20k+ miles a year. Fuck paying for a car to look at it in the garage.

I believe cars should be driven. You can still drive it and keep it in great shape. I couldn't imagine having a fun car and never driving it. Then again, I've only really had 1 fun car and the mazda ain't bad

The problem with parking a car and never driving it is its a depreciating asset. Unless you park it for 50 years and its a rare model, nothing is gonna stop it from being worthless than you paid. Must be nice to have a 40k garage decoration.

^enough mods will make anything fun .

No it makes me sad that you have my childhood dream car, in my favorite color scheme rotting in your garage. I remember the viper tv show

I don't think I'd want to put *that* many miles on a car like that.

What do you think 20k+ miles a year does to a car's value?

[Edited on October 20, 2014 at 9:55 PM. Reason : mildew how much did you pay for it?]

Why not DD it? Its a performance car, it can take the mileage. I dont buy anything thinking about resale, that defeats the purpose of owning it if you are always worrying about using it too much. Mildew back that monster out the garage and go hooning.

It's not exactly a collector's car*. Not within this lifetime at least. Drive it. Enjoy it. Vehicles are rarely worthwhile investments.

*While I understand some people collect it, it's not like a 69 Shelby GT500, 1975 Countach, 1989 959, cars that are appreciating in value as years pass by.

I forgot, it's OBDII. I retract my offer.

Serious question. How hard is it to maintain a car with that few miles driven per year? 38 miles per week isn't miniscule, I suppose.
Obviously having a garage helps tremendously. I would think you'd get a lot of carbon build up in the cylinders from sitting. Unless you put ethanol free fuel in it, the fuel would break down a good bit.

I say keep it!

Also how do you not have enough time to drive it? Everyone has to drive somewhere sometime, and unless you work from home I don't see why you can't just drive the Viper more often than whatever other car you have.

Work from home a majority of the time. When I go into the office, the parking deck isn't accessible for lowered vehicles without major scraping/damage....

2 kids and a wife take up all of my weekends & evenings....

Starting a 2nd job/business with my already limited free time....

Keep it!! If you have the means to afford having the car sit in the garage. I've got an 04, and drive it when I can. It makes having it in the garage when I want it worth having. Granted my DD has the same amount of HP, just heavier and not the amount of torque of the viper. Wifes play car is a crossfire srt-6 with upgraded supercharger pulley, intake, and tune.

yeah, '12 392. No plans on the Hellcat Challenger, possibly the Hellcat Charger.

The crossfire is fun, 400+ hp. She likes it, I dont mind driving it. Definitely a girls car.

sell it, dude. maybe be patient and get a good deal, but you've already had the experience. stop paying to not use it, get your money back out of it, and then make money with that money while until the next bucket list item comes along.

why keep a car you don't drive? it'll probly be cool and worth money in a long time but not worth the hold.
