I don't think you'll see much (if any) real crossovers from the movies, but from what I understand it does take place in the same Universe.

^^yes, pretty much exactly what ^ said, this is all taking place in the same universe, but marvel has stated that they want these Netflix shows to stand on their own, especially to start off with, so there will probably be some references to the wider universe (like the line in the trailer) but you're not going to see Iron Man flying by or anything like that.

Yea, they are definitely in the same universe. The Netflix shows are intended to focus on your street level heroes and not the meta-humans the other stuff focuses on. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage will each have their own shows and they will team up ultimately in a Defenders series on Netflix as well.

The tone of these shows is going to be darker as well, but I think that's pretty evident from the trailers.

I've watched the first two episodes. Really enjoying it. Two things I'm really liking so far: the fights are REALISTIC. It shows him getting tired and hit a lot. Anytime you see Spider-Man or Wolverine (or even less powerful heroes like the Punisher or Black Widow) they have absolutely no issue destroying thugs without breaking a sweat, losing their breath, or even getting hit once. Haven't seen realistic fight scenes like this since Oldboy.

Also like the subtle references to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I had completely forgotten that this was part of it so when they just briefly mentioned the events from the Avengers, they didn't come outright and say anything about the other heroes. Will be pleased at possible tie-ins in the future, maybe even with Agent Carter or Agents of SHIELD.

^yeah, the fighting has been pretty awesome. I also absolutely love that they started it with him already going out as a masked vigilante, then have flashbacks to how and why he's doing it. I'm totally burnt out on the standard origin story, I want to watch a show called Daredevil to see the actual character, not half a season of him becoming that character, and the show does not dissappoint.

What I like about the fighting is that it doesn't depict random goons getting knocked unconscious with 1 or 2 punches like most superhero (and in fact almost all action or adventure) movies/shows. He generally really has to put a beating on someone to put them down for good.

On top of that, when he does knpck them out, they aren't out for like 2 hours. In the second fight he knocked one guy unconcious and he started to wake up when he was still fighting the other guys.

Most people seem to think that we won't get a possible season 2 until after the entire 60 episode run of Marvel stuff is done, but if this is successful enough (and we won't ever know because netflix doesn't release any numbers) then they might go ahead and renew it soon.

On the other hand, since netflix is a subscription service and not necessarily concerned about ratings for individual shows, they might think one Marvel show at a time is enough to keep the nerds paying their $8 a month.

Just finished up, and I loved it. I am surprised they were allowed to make it so dark/so much geared towards older people with the cursing and side boob and whatnot, but I'm very happy it was.

****************Semi-spoilery stuff**************

I got kind of giddy when he finally shows up in full costume at the end. I don't think the costume looks all that great in the pics I've seen where it is better lit, but they kept him mostly in shadows and I thought it looked fantastic. I think my least favorite part is the head piece, and the biggest issue that I have in it is the eye holes, they are actually holes and can see the eyes behind it, I actually like what they did in the affleck film better with the red covering. But this is just a minor nit pick, the show was fucking awesome, Stick episode was my favorite.

****also spoilery stuff i guess****

so, i thought the eye holes were funny too at first. but if you consider that most people don't know he's blind, including the guy that made the suit, he'd be revealing a lot about himself if he told the guy not to make eye holes. just a thought.

finished it last night. It was very very very awesome. Loved VD as Kingpin, thought Page and Nelson were very well cast and the three had a great chemistry. The suit was great and i'm glad they didn't come close to the dorky red eye holes.

Really think this show deserves a season 2 asap even if that means jumping ahead of The Defenders.

I think the eye holes are just a practical concession to the actor/stuntmen. They probably would have done something differently otherwise.

^yeah, that probably was a big consideration too, but like I said, as long as they keep him slightly in the shadows and don't show it too clearly, I think it looks great.

Anyone else notice how the original Netflix screen art for the show was Matt Murdock and later on it was the final Daredevil costume? Maybe it just showed up differently on different Netflix portals (started on a Wii U at a friend's place but finished on my PC).

***********SPOILERS**********

I really enjoyed the series, but I felt it started a lot stronger than it finished. The story seemed to be as much about the rise of the Kingpin as it was Daredevil, but the Kingpin arch did not go as I expected. Mid-way through it felt like they were building up the Kingpin to eliminate all the middle-men leaving him controlling everything (which sort of happened), but I expected his companions to be the scapegoats, leaving him still free and fully in-control, just somewhat legitimate in the public eye.

I dislike the idea that a bad guy needs to be eliminated (either by death or jailing) at the end of any story-arch. I was hoping the Kingpin would stay free with more subtle domination plans so he could be a constant threat for the MCU. Now he either has to be the puppet-master from behind bars or they have to find some technicality to get him out of prison (very unlikely seeing all the death caused by his escape).

***********/SPOILERS**********

Really like the intro to this show.

Also I find it interesting how the major catalyst for all the crime, at least in the first episode, was the fallout from events from the MCU.

Just finished it. I would definitely watch a second season

***Spoiler***

I'm worried about that last episode though...they left everything way too tidy, which means they may have only written it for one series. I really don't see how Netflix will be able to manage so many shows - House of Cards, Orange, Hemlock Grove (I bet this one will go), Daredevil, and the other three Marvel series coming up, plus the other shows they have. Seems like a lot to have on the plate.
