I love the Hulu comments from last night's episode focusing on the cow not having a calf and cows just don't make milk all the time and stuff!! I think the most absurd part of the whole show so far for me is not one single conversation about what they had all been doing for the past year before meeting in Tucson.

Cows can give milk for a long time after having a calf.

In other news, I haven't watched this since the episode the other woman showed up.

^^ that's sort of been covered. The blond girl went around coffee shops, the main guy looted famous places and painted signs and shit in pools and made the bar people, etc.

They haven't gone in to the other people, but i'm sure it'll happen.

Yeah, it's getting stuck in a narrative funk right now. I still like it but you have to keep changing it up to keep things fresh. If they do a season 2, I think they should consider a new location to help. Also, Phil's "act" is starting to wear thin. At the end of the past few episodes, he learns some lesson and you think he's going to change his ways. Then, he's an ass again by the start of the next episode.

i missed a week (where they found the 2nd dude) and it still feels pretty similar to the last one i saw. it is entertaining, if a bit formulaic. this isn't something i'd record or specifically sit down to watch, but if it is on i watch it.

DON'T YOU DARE COMPARE THIS TO THE MASTERPIECE THAT IS COMMUNITY

it would probably make a better movie than a tv show though.

I enjoyed the first few episodes a lot more than the last few. I still find the show amusing, but two episodes at a time is too much

Feel like this show started great, but really just needs to re-focus itself. Right now it just seems like Forte sat around, thought up funny ideas for episodes but didn't really think of how to link them together.

Each episode feels serialized for the most part in Phil being awkward, realizing he's being weird, and then trying to make amends for it and seeming to be coming around.

So many things they could do:
1.) Flashbacks to what actually happened
2.) Doing fun group activities like the first episode
3.) Getting the fuck out of Tuscon
4.) Actually attempting to start a new community

I mean I get Phil is suppose to be a dumb character, but how awkward do you really have to be to say, "Hey, it's cool you're having sex, can you just turn the music down a little bit so it's not broadcasting the same song over and over really loudly?" I mean he's a douche for the most part but I imagine most people would see that as a reasonable request.

I keep thinking Phil is just going to leave and move to another town, but I know you can't have a show with just one guy. And how many more people are going to be introduced this season?

getting kinda tired of the similar storylines every single episode. that last episode seemed like it was sort of putting an end to that side of Phil with the divorce, though. so maybe some newer storylines and material will come in the next episodes.

Looking like he's gonna be dating the two new girls in the next episode. I agree...him being a total douchebag and then coming back and apologizing every episode is getting old

I almost turned it off and quit after the first half, but decided to watch the second before giving up completely.

It was better, enough to get me to watch this week again. Though, if he goes back to playing the same character again, which it looks like he might, I think that'll be it for me

I enjoyed the episodic consistency of Phil's perm last night. But another new person at just the moment Phil thought he had a chance with the two new ladies? Not predictable at all.

I'll commit for the last 2 episodes of the season because Todd starting to crack has some promise. I think Tandy and him conspire to get rid of the new Phil, which could be good.

i admit the plot can be predicitable but every ep has had multiple literal LOL moments for me, and that is my key component for a good comedy.

his scream when his "shade" blew away last ep was just great

You'd have to be gay to want to bang Carol.

^haha. I told my wife at the beginning of the episode that I bet he was gay. I mean...too many times these women have been throwing themselves at him and hes just all like, "come on guys". She said, "Well, why hasnt he gone after the guys yet then?" And I said, "Really? Look at them...". She said, "good point"

She looked pretty decent when she was wearing that white dress going to see new Phil, but her personality is way too annoying. Also, why did she insist that original Phil marry her before they had sex but she isn't doing the same for new Phil?

yea that was a weird plot hole, but i'm more forgiving of plot holes in comedys, generally.

and i have to assume people are referring to the character of carol vs kristen schaal herself. she has a weird look but it isnt like she is a dog

The finale was intriguing. I thought they were setting up a real Hobbesian state of nature scenario with new Phil asserting his dominance and taking control of Tucson. I'll be interested to see how the other cast-members play a role in the next season if Phil and Carol really do relocate.

Old Phil delivering the bag of jewelry to Carol was reminiscent of Tom Green buying Betty a bag of jewels in Freddy Got Fingered.

Even if the virus somehow happened instantaneously, he'd still have internet access and stuff for a little bit. And yes, he wouldn't be alone. I still wanna know why there aren't dead bodies and animals (aside from the cow).

The lack of dead bodies is purely so that we don't have mounds of bodies in each shot, they don't want that kind of tone for the show.

i kinda thought the show took place in phil's head; he actually crashed his car and went into a coma in the first episode. but the whole brother-in-space thing is making me second guess that theory.

If he was actually in a coma, he wouldn't last more than two days in the Arizona sun without dying of dehydration.

He could be in a coma in a hospital (like the beginning of Walking Dead)... although I don't think that's what's going on
