There are some shady spots in my yard where the centipede struggles...a local turf company suggests going with St Aug's for this area, particularly in the shade, and says that it works fine to plant sprigs/sod of St Aug's in some areas and let the 2 mix together (and that St Aug's will overtake even centipede somewhat).

What do you guys think? Think it'll look weird, or do you think they're so close in appearance that it'll be fine?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just don't want a turfgrass Van Gogh in my yard.

Wish there were threads in the Lounge and Old School where shit like this could be discussed...

Well, I bought 9 pieces of St Aug's sod (Palmetto variety) and maybe 10-12 plugs. Nowhere near enough to cover the areas that died, but I don't have a truck anymore and can't haul much in the hatchback. It was only $20 or so; I'll go get some more later. I'm not gonna try to sod it all anyway; I'll probably go buy another 10 pieces of sod, then cut them into quarters (or smaller) and basically set them out as larger plugs. I'll just write this season off as a rebuilding year. Now that my workshop is almost done, and I'm re-employed, I can add a sprinkler system, and maybe nail the yard down once and for all.
