I'm looking for a one bedroom apartment within say ~5 miles of campus. I've found one place that is within my budget, but I'd like to hear what else is out there. Can anyone recommend a few places that are below $800/mo?? Preferably less than $700.

I don't know where else to ask and the place I found only has a handful of apartments left, so I need to move pretty quickly. I'm not currently in Raleigh, so I need your help.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Look near Cameron Village. Not sure of the prices these days, but back when I lived over there, there were plenty of reasonable 1 br options. Cameron court might be the nicest of the relatively inexpensive place but it was low 600s almost 10 years ago so not sure what it is now. There are also Raleigh apts, Shelton Arms, Boylan apts all have options. Also drive down Daniels St. north of Cameron Village and look for For Rent signs in the Cameron Village Condominiums II. Those places are individually owned, so there's not a central office, but they're nice little places with a great location and very reasonable rent. I lived there 2004-07 and the rent was $495 if I remember correctly.

I lived in Kensington Park in 2008, and the rent was ~$650 iirc. It was reasonably nice.

Thanks for your suggestions, if anyone knows any up to date info that would be helpful, but I'll look into the above mentioned for sure.

Kensington Park gives a discount to NCSU Students, so that is nice.

Need more ideas.

BTW, I figured out why Trees and Leaves apartments is the cheapest 1 bedroom, haha. (it's on Kent Rd.)

Does anyone have any experience with Arbor Creek?

Also I have noticed that places like Kensington Park give discounts to NCSU students, are there other places like this?

The lowest Cameron Court and Shelton Apartments have for a 1 bedroom right now is $975, not even close.

I need this under $700.

Just saying Cameron Village does not help out much without names of places you already know are low cost.

Yep, because it's the goddamn ghetto.

I'm actually moving into a 1bd apartment for $600 today--but it's a private residence. Good luck. All the stuff I found that I liked otherwise were 2bd 1ba places and not at the same price point. Fuck roommates.

What is the best way to find private residences?

I found this one on Craigslist. I was checking Craigslist, Padmapper, and Hotpads pretty religiously. Lots of them were getting rented on the day they went up.

Atria has completely overrun Craigslist, how do you sort through that mess?

then you are either living in some ghetto like trees and leaves, subletting a room somewhere, or you are going to realize that you need to find a roommate.

Remember that when you live by yourself you pay all of your bills yourself, there is no one to split the power bill, water bill, cable/internet, etc...
