Last weekend (Friday evening) I was mowing the lawn and mowed over a yellow jacket nest in the ground. I was stung multiple times (i counted 11 stings) but after a day they seemed pretty much ok.

Fast forward a week. Over the past day or two several of the areas where I was stung have become very itchy surrounded by red, swollen skin. The worst is on my right hand where I was stung in the middle finger... yesterday it was painful to close my hand because it was swollen.

Has anyone experienced a delayed reaction like this? Death imminent?

Most likely the stingers are still in your skin and your body is trying to get them out/destroy them.

Mmmm... I bet the toxin is working its way out of the area- that's why there's lots of redness and inflammation there right now. Don't be stupid and itch it, you might get a secondary infection.

Take an antihistamine like Benadryl and slap some steroid cream on it. If it doesn't improve, then go to the doctor. I'd ask for an Epi pen in case you're allergic.
