It has been used to support nationalism, fascism, and socialism by various folks. Either way, it's bullshit. The people of the US are not "one nation".

"What if....the police in Chicago and Detroit also just aren't doing their job???

"

In a way, maybe this is partly to blame. Chicago just announced they are hiring 1000 more cops to help with the increase in violent crime. These neighborhoods need more cops and the people who complain the most about the job cops do need to consider becoming cops and becoming part of the solution.

Quote :
"you mean fathers being thrown in prison?"

These people weren't walking down the street, tripped and fell in prison. They deserve to be there. The laws that put them there are for the most part legislated by black representatives from their communities who are tired of seeing destruction from drug and gang violence. They are poor because no one in their right mind will invest in an area with high crime rates. If you don't want to follow the law because you think it's racist, then protest that law or vote, don't just break it and then cry when consequences follow.

Sure, some cops are bad/ need to be fired and a lot of others need more training. Apparently, citizens need training as well, to learn how to abide by the law and act like civilized people and that goes for all races.

Quote :
"you mean poor people generally are more desperate and resort to violent crime more often?"

Blaming someone's decision to commit violent crime because they are poor is ridiculous. It's no one else's fault but their own.

Even as I type this I feel like I'm talking to my 4 year old nephew who is just learning how to behave. It's common sense, just don't break the law..

Students protest during national anthem

" Many other students and alumni were unsettled by the protest, feeling physically threatened and/or unsettled by the protesting students’ actions[IT1] , despite the protesters' nonviolence. Four stadium police officers were stationed above the section in which the protest was held, rather than the customary two, as noted by several students."

I don't have a problem with people making this kind of statement. However, I do think that people who are in the public eye are painting themselves into a corner of sorts by doing it. Kaepernick, for example, is not being very specific about what he wants to see changed - he will continue to draw criticism for kneeling. Then, when he chooses to stand, he will inevitably be accused of selling out, as someone on the other side of the argument will still not be satisfied with the way minorities are being treated. What's he supposed to do - never stand for the anthem ever again? I suppose he could.

I'm also divided on how I feel about members of marching bands doing it, especially if they stop playing when they kneel. The band relies on individual members to make up the whole, and it detracts from everyone's performance if enough people stop playing. It feels different to me than kneeling and then going and playing as a full participant in a game. Everyone who joins the band knows they're implicitly (or maybe directly?) agreeing to perform the anthem.

FUN FACT: The United States had no national anthem until 1930. The year prior, Ripley's Believe it or Not! pointed out that the Star-Spangled Banner had never been officially adopted, prompting legislators to make the change.

Yea with the band kneeling and not playing while on the field is like if Kaepernick was on the field and decided he wasn't going to participate in this set of downs. I don't really agree with him about his decision to kneel/not stand for the anthem, but it is not affecting his actual in game performance. But to go out on the field and actively say fuck this whether you are the band or a football player is pretty shitty, especially because it does affect the rest of the team/band as well relying on everybody working together to perform a song or make a play.

Your black-and-white extremist views that any and all SJWs (as you define them) and all those associated with BLM are all racist, cop-hating, virtue-signaling, blahblahblah is no different than the than the extremist SJWs and BLMs who actually do think that (which is a minority).

Your black and white generalizations make you a joke. And a troll. Your comments offer nothing, except as a warning that there are actually people like you in the general population who share your extremist views.

AS I've even mentioned before, I actually agree with some of your opinions to a certain extent, but the absolute, extreme way you see all situations is a little delusional and deranged.

So me criticizing extremists means I'm the extremist? Got it.

Also if you look at #BLM's list of absurd demands, releasing the Charlotte looters/rioters from jail is one of them. Doesn't seem like they care to differentiate between peaceful protests and violence, as the SJW apologists claim.

No, that's not what makes you an extremist. You lumping anybody and everybody who you think is a SJW (which seems to be anybody who doesn't completely agree with you) into one group who thinks and acts the same way makes you an extremist (among other things).

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't . There's no pleasing some of you, I suppose.

Personally, I'm willing to accept the reason for a protest is to bring attention to an issue. Kaepernick succeeded in that in that endeavor. Protesting until 'racism ends' seems like an unreachable goal.

Kaepernick claimed that America (in 2016) "oppresses black people and people of color".

That is why he was "damned" by so many. If he wanted to protest anecdotal cases of police brutality, I don't think many Americans would disagree with him. The problem is he is attacking his country, and police in general, in a vague and unproductive way by saying shit like that.

LeBron wasn't "damned" for wearing the "I Can't Breath" shirt... because it was a specific reference to a case of police brutality.

To take a few anecdotal cases of police brutality and use that to condemn an entire country/institution as being "racist" and "oppressive" isn't just bullshit, it's Marxist critical theory in effect. Which is what #BLM is, if we are being honest.
