Just like the birth certificate, his taxes, the sexual abuse allegations, and probably a few other things, trump claimed he had big news, then completely fizzles out.

How is this guy president...

This is pretty scary, Trump doesn't like the CIA's conclusions so he wants to cut them down:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/lawmakers-officials-frown-on-donald-trumps-dismissal-of-u-s-intelligence-1483554450

Sort of reminds me of another president who pushed for intelligence reports to suit an agenda...

^^ if middle America and coal country wanted real answers they wouldn't have fallen for a con man. They WANT to have smoke blown up their asses because the reality is scary.

We can sit here and point out his outright lying for personal benefit every one of the next 1300+ days or accept that a good number of Americans WANT to be lied to instead of facing down hard truths.

Granted, it never made much sense on it's face that a real estate magnate and reality TV show star who'd made his fortune screwing over working class people would somehow be better for them than Hillary because he wasn't indebted to Wall Street. Now, it makes even less sense that we've just learned he's literally indebted to Wall Street to the tune of at least $1.5 billion.

https://thinkprogress.org/trump-said-he-had-315-million-in-debt-he-left-out-1-5-billion-73577d392896#.3ejfmow1j (I only posted the TP link because the WSJ article it cites is behind a paywall)

Quote :
"A report this afternoon from the Wall Street Journal, however, revealed that Trump’s disclosure was the tip of the iceberg. The FEC required Trump only to report debt from entities he fully controls. The disclosure left out “more than $1.5 billion lent to partnerships that are 30%-owned by him.” That debt has been securitized and is owed to at least 150 financial entities."

But hey guys, Clinton would have been worse because of a few hundred thousand for paid speeches. Keep in mind that is just his US debt, since he's been blackballed for years by US banks, he's likely got even more racked up with financial entities in Germany and Russia.

Seems pretty clear by now trump is going to make a terrible president and we can't predict the depth of his corruptness.

He's the most opaque candidate in my lifetime, and as this stuff comes to light he's going to struggle to respond. Either by lashing out or wagging the dog.

It's frustrating that trump is living up to and exceeding the worst of his critics, hopefully the watchdogs are staying at the top of their game.

I'm not going to defend Trump, he's a fucking dummy, but there's nothing of substance in that op-ed and that website looks like it was put together by a 6-year old who doesn't think jezebel leans far enough left.

It would be nice if anti-Trump forces would stop hyperventilating every time the man does anything and actually offer reasoned critiques and well reasoned arguments for why we shouldn't do something. There's plenty to go after, which makes it all the more amazing that the attacks are so incredibly ineffective and poorly argued.

He will literally be the worst person ever to be born.

He will kill every woman who might even consider having an abortion.

And he's totally going to murder every Mexican citizen...even the ones in Mexico.

And black people. You think the cops are murdering them at a rate never before seen?

HA!

Trump is going to nuke San Francisco and Chicago.

Believe me. I've said it on the internets.

All of that is stupid yet still pales in comparison to the idea Obama was a Kenyan Muslim plant whose mission was to destroy America. Or as it should be called, The Trump Doctrine.

^^ I mean what do you want? A dissertation? His appointees alone show he meant absolutely nothing he said during the campaign. The only thing he has done worthy of praise is destroy the awful side of the GOP on the campaign ethics thing.

The main difference between anti-Obama hysteria and anti-Trump hysteria is pretty clear.

People on the right who were terrified of Obama were afraid of things he never said he'd do.

People on the left who are terrified of Trump are afraid of things he openly says he wants to do.

Could you imagine any past president from either side being as big a thin-skinned baby boy as Trump is? There is no way we have ever had a president with such a need to be liked.

I'm convinced his whole response to Russia is solely based on the fact that Putin says nice things about him. That's how this guys brain has always worked.

Trump did win in a legitimate manner, but the outgoing president is holding press conferences to say the elections were rigged by the Russians despite no actual evidence of this being the case. I think any politician would be outraged at a lame duck president poisoning the wells of foreign policy and stoking the divide in this country.

Is there a direct quote from the outgoing president that suggests that the elections were rigged by the Russians?

Also, the post above yours said, "If Trump thought he won the election in a legitimate manner," not, "If Trump won the election in a legitimate manner."

i don't know if he ever said rigged, but he has definitely talked about their interference

i heard him say "I think that what is true is that the Russians intended to meddle and they meddled" in his abc interview last night or the night before, he has made other similar statements

this russia thing is distracting and democrats need to get off it

It's really bizarre seeing democrats adopt cold war fear mongering and siding with intelligence agencies that have a history of lying to the public.

This entire election has turned American politics on it's side and people are just picking teams instead of principled positions.

And yes, Trump is a small handed baby man child with his desire to be respected being his only true political trait....but this is true for most autocrats. The American public had better learn, and learn fast, the means and methods for resisting full blown authoritarianism. Because all this bullshit musing about whether or not a foreign power meddled in our election is beside the point. This dude WILL be our president, and he is capable of irreparable damage. Exerting energy on this Russia thing is a waste of rapidly diminishing resources and should be dropped.

basically the reason ive lost interest in politics right now. the right is too easy to criticize and it's exhausting to argue against the hypocrisy of the left. "Russia", "fake news", wikileaks, body shaming is ok if it's someone you don't like, etc. wake me up when the age of information is over

^^^ that is true. But there are ways to lessen its impact. Such as not appointing people who propagate it like General Flynn to high positions. That would be ok.

I wouldn't want to have any statutes or regulations in place to limit it. Stupid people are going to fall for stupid stories no matter what the government says or does.

What about Ron Wyden (D-OR)?

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/russia-hacking-probe-campaigns-kremlin-233419

This is the second time he's insinuated that the FBI is sitting on something. I think you're right about a number of people trying to capitalize on the Russia situation, but Wyden is a relatively straight arrow (IMO). We have evidence he has been lied to directly by the CIA (torture report, I think) and I really don't think he's the type to keep raising this issue if its just some coincidental bullshit. So I'd definitely like to see what the deal is here.

From Page 2, Paragraph 3

According to Source D where s/he had been present, Trump’s (perverted) conduct in Moscow included hiring the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, here he knew President and Mrs Obama (whom he hated) had stayed on one of their official trips to Russia, and defiling the bed where they had slept by employ a number of prostitutes to perform a ‘golden showers’ (urination) show in front of him. The hotel was known to be under FSB control with microphones and concealed cameras in all the main rooms to record anything they wanted to.

Watching Obama give his farewell speech, trying to imagine Trump giving a speech like this.

I don't even want to think about what the White House Correspondents Dinner will be like for the next 4 years. This is a guy who proved at the Al Smith dinner that the closest he could get to self deprecating humor is making fun of his wife.

It's pretty easy to guess by now Trump is not anywhere remotely as wealthy as he claims to be. He might be in the hole. But this will all result in completely destroyed credibility for a while.

The peeing/lying about financials are all embarrassing things that trump could easily weather-- he was already on video bragging about cheating on his wife and committing sexual assault.

If the story is true that his team has met with Russia and they fed his campaign info, that's where the real juicy stuff is.

There's a few preliminary indicators that some of the info is made up, so will be interesting to see how it all sorts out.

I don't know if any of this stuff is true. It's sort of besides the point in me saying this.... but one of the more fascinating things of 2016 to me was Trump actually being able to use Clinton's lack of transparency (she is and has stretched the truth far too much) while somehow convincing white America he was far more transparent. The reality is he is, and it's not even close, the least transparent presidential candidate in generations. Con men gonna con and ignorant people gonna fall for it.
