Walmart.com allows 3rd party sellers

^ah, thanks

so I guess you just have to look immediately at 5:00 and see if they're posting it for $59.99? Otherwise, it's just 3rd party sellers?

They gonna do a classic SNES? I have fonder memories of those games.

Also - does anyone know if they're releasing more games for this down the road, and if so how they'd get loaded onto the device?

Classis SNES with just Mario Kart and Link to the Past would get me to purchase.

I've yet to read any TWW reviews on the actual Classic NES product though - worth getting or did the nostalgia wear off after a few hours of play?

I still think they should have released it with no ability to save unless the initial game had the ability to save. I want people having to write down passcodes and/or leave their box on overnight like I did.

If you can save/resume it definitely takes away from the difficulty.

Ha! I forgot all about having to leave the NES on for hours bc you couldn't save - damn thing would get hot after sitting for hours.

So many fond memories of the original NES. My family was kinda poor so I thought I'd never get one - to me that was a toy for kids of rich families. Then the Christmas I turned 8, that motherfucker was under the tree. I actually got sick with excitement. I still don't know where my parents got the money for the system itself. For all I know, my dad may still be making payments on it on his credit card.

We had a movie rental store right down the road from my neighborhood. I remember walking there with a few bucks I'd earned from chores to try and rent the newest games that would come out - keep in mind this was before the days of week long rentals. I had that shit for 24 hours. We had to try and beat each game within a day unless we wanted to rent it again. I also remember going day after day trying to rent some of the more popular games and never getting a chance because this mom and pops rental store only had one copy of each game. I distinctly remember renting Friday the 13th and Top Gun and Ghost 'n Goblins. I only had a few games that I owned because poor so I spent a lot of time renting games.

Then Final Fantasy came out. I saved and saved and saved and had enough money to be the first in my 'hood to have it. My friend and I spent countless hours (so it seemed, it really isn't that long of a game by today's standards) on the floor 4 ft from my tube TV playing that game.

So yea, if a $60 piece of hardware can bring back a fifth of those fond memories of my childhood, I'm all in, regardless of how it saves or how long the cord is (a common complaint btw). I just wish I could get a chance to throw my $60 at it. I'm just not quick enough on Walmart.com

This. I have loved going back and playing all the Super Mario games. I completely forgot about Super Mario 2, I used to love that game. I just bought a long HMDI and will use that until wireless controllers are available.

I guess I totally over-estimated how many people still had their working NES and all their games.

All the games I grew up playing...I already own them and can put them in my working NES, haha. I still have my Game Genie and code book if I need to put in codes too.

I don't own a WII, so I can't play them through it, I don't want to somehow connect my laptop to my tv to get an emulator to work. Speaking of emulators, can you even still get nesticle? That was the emulator of choice when I was in college.

Ive had mine for weeks now, and im so over it. Its pretty cool, but the controller's sharp edges is so annoying.

I love punchout though.

Did they say how many the stores will have? I'm not opposed to standing in line for a while, but I'm not going to do it for a shot at one of three units.

1. Get a used wii for $40.
2. install emulators.
3. don't stand in line or pay more money.
4. Play all the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube games you want.

https://www.engadget.com/2016/12/16/nintendo-nes-classic-edition-sales/

Quote :
"Cheers to those who've already located one (or two), but according to industry tracker NPD, Nintendo sold 196,000 pieces of nostalgia-bait to US customers between its launch and the end of November. Compare that to Media-Create's numbers, which showed Japanese sales of the Classic Mini Famicom surpassed 261k units in just one week."

Goes to show how badly they fucked up the shipment numbers here.
