Seems like most mock drafts are moving on from the stock Fournette pick for the Panthers at #8.

I've seen everything from Solomon Thomas(DE) to Ryan Ramcyzk(OT) to Marshon Lattimore(CB) to Jamal Adams(S).

I think as long as it's not DT or LB I'll be content. Watch us do something stupid and take Jabril Peppers in the 1st round.

While taking an early RB doesn't seem like a good idea, and mostly seems to have worked out for Dallas since they already had a great offensive line in place...if our philosophy is still to try and run the football more than most teams, which would also take some pressure off of Cam, it might not be the worst move to get a stud back. Look how anemic our offense was when Stewart was hurt last season.

Problem is the top OL options in this class are suspect at best.

Think I read Oher still hasn't passed concussion protocol, so who knows if he'll be forced to retire or what. If he did retire we could use that cash to invest in an OT, some decent veteran options in FA this year. No way we keep Remmers around, so we're going to have to pick up some FA options and perhaps draft a 2nd or 3rd round option to groom.

Don't care who we have at QB, RB, or WR, if our OL isn't better than last year we're going to struggle. Sucks we have a top 10 pick in a draft with no great OT option in the first 15 picks.

Fournette would be great, but first the OL has to be addressed as been stated. Cam has to have time and, our run game has to be effective. Draft and FA need to catered around the trenches... OL and DE.

RB can address both protection and the run game.

We need to take the best player at #8. Not just a hope at OL

Fournette should be option 1. He's a superstar in the making, even though i think he'd be better in a traditional offenses than the crappy zone read we run. He'd instantly change Panthers' identity on offense.

If Cook didn't have those rape charges or whatever, I'd be fine taking him at 8. He might actually fit our scheme better from a skill standpoint.

I'd much rather have Adams at 8 than anyone else. Draft Dayes in the 3rd and kick Stewart to the curb.

you crazy. Behind a solid OL (like we had barely more than a year ago), he could still be a feature back for years to come.

Adams is the ideal first pick.

I keep seeing Mixon mocked to us in the 4th or 5th round...there is just no way we take another domestic violence player despite his upside and skillset.

I'd love to see Dayes on the Panthers but you'd have to keep JStew around and use Dayes in more of the DeA role. I actually wouldn't mind the RB from Texas in the 2nd or 3rd round depending on how the draft goes, think he has solid upside despite a high usage rate this past season.

Wouldn't surprise me if a couple of OT's slide up the board come combine time though, they tend to most years. Still think biggest needs are OT, DE, S, RB, CB, in that order.

Ted Ginn and AJ Klein also leaving and expected to go to the Saints. First Harper, now Ginn and Klein. They let Michael Tolbert go, but they keep Fozzy Whitaker (who was barely used and isn't as good as Tolbert).

All a damn business......Tolbert BLED black and Panther blue.

Glad Klein is finally gone.
Tolbert was a must cut to save money.
Stewart and Gano would save us a tooshload of cash if we dumped them but I'm OK with trying to roll with them one more year.
Need secondary help bad. No more bullshit this year.
That DT signing was ridiculous. How much dead money is he c outing us this year?

Good contract again for CJ

On one side I'm glad we got a LT, on the other side, that contract was garbage. Kalil will never be worth 5 years, 55.5 million with 25 guaranteed. We could have landed Okung or Whitworth for basically the same money.

Bummed we didn't land Church, though not sure I wanted to make him a top 5 paid SS in the league either.

My hopes for Adams has gone up a bit with all the SS signings yesterday, but I still think it's a very long-shot that he slides to us.

Don't have to worry about taking Fournette anymore though, no way he makes it past the Jags at #4 apparently.

Looks like Peppers is coming back home.

Nothing official, but it'll be a great signing if true. He'll be relatively cheap, but he's still got one more good season left in him.

Just wish I hadn't donated my old Pep jersey to goodwill

Feel like DG is signing someone for all of our "needs" just so we can invest in BPA.

Need an OT? Over-pay Kalil.

Need a DE? Bring back Peppers who hasn't played DE in 3-4 years.

Need a Nickel CB? We're about to over-pay Munnerlyn.

Wouldn't shock me if we ended up signing a veteran S and WR/KR just so we can start the draft with all of our "holes" filled.

We gave up Ealy to move up 8 spots in the draft(swapped NE's late 2nd with our early 3rd).

Honestly I don't mind it. Ealy had a big SB game and expectations were high for last year and he was average. I could see us taking a DE in the 1st this year(hello Thomas) and letting him learn from CJ/Peppers while he rotates in.

Mike Adams and Captain were both solid pick ups. Adams lets Coleman move back to FS and Captain gives us a really good nickel CB to partner with Bradberry and Worley. We now don't have any "glaring" needs in the draft and we should be positioned to draft BPA throughout. Would have loved to pick up another OT in FA(let's be honest, Oher is going to be forced to retire) but I'm guessing they like Williams and want to draft another OT to start grooming. Doesn't help we need a RT and even RT's are getting substantial contracts.

Charles Johnson basically fills the Brown spot, not sure if he can return kicks though. He has shown flashes with Minny, so maybe with a better offense he'll be able to shine. I really thought we'd go after Patterson if we were getting a WR from Minny, thought he'd be ideal to replace Ginn as a deep threat and KR.

Actually i think Johnson takes Ginn's spot and Shepard replaces Brown, but it doesn't really matter. Shepard has been a pretty good special teams player for TB and started to show some promise as a WR last year. Johnson is the burner who will fill Ginn's role in the offense. Sure, Patterson would have been nice, but he probably wants to go somewhere that he'd play more on offense (i.e. not another power rushing team) and he is probably more expensive than what the Panthers want to pay a WR3.

Welp, can't say Getts didn't at least try to give Rivera a competitive roster. That's a lot of moves.

Overall, not sure I love getting a lot older on defense. Kalil could obviously be a huge upgrade on offense if he stays healthy and the receivers seem like good signings for the money.

I don't disagree, but that doesn't change the fact that at the end of his Panthers stint he went straight to management and said: "I don't want to play here anymore"

he also seems to have the IQ of a toaster and an agent that has his hooks all the way through him.

idk though. I didnt like him when he was washing up here 10 years ago or whatever. but I think on a 1 year farewell kinda thing it couldnt hurt. Hell, look at it the same way as the Jared Allen thing

I mean ealy was super Overrated based on his super bowl.

He got those sacks going up against a 3rd or 4th string Left tackle .

But he was locked up for 1.1 million of which we still have to pay 200k.

And considering how important defensive line depth is particularly with injury prone CJ and 40 year old Peppers..

And if he'd left as a free agent next year we might have gotten a compensatory draft pick for him.

1.1 million for a DE who can tie his shoes every week is a damn good deal.

He led our DL in snaps last year I'm pretty sure for God's sake...

To move up EIGHT spots in essentially the 3rd round?

Bad trade in my opinion, but maybe we didn't think he would make the roster

While you are right, I also strongly suspect the deal was done to keep Big Bro Ryan from retiring anytime soon. He is a great Center that is perfect for Cam -- and we'll definitely miss him when that time comes. Gotta hope the two brothers on the same line create something special. Communication is so critical. Silver lining?

^I agree, the move was definitely to make Ryan happy, but at the same time, both of those guys have proven to be injury risks. If both stay healthy we should be better than last year, but I just don't see both lasting the whole season healthy. Hope I'm wrong.

Looking at the draft board, even before we moved Ealy or picked up Peppers, it's a high likelihood that we draft a DE at #8.

If not we can probably find a DE at one of our 2nd round picks, this draft is pretty loaded with DL talent.
