Awesome movie.

SPOILERS

Not 100% convinced Mysterio is dead, even if Edith did 'confirm'.

Simmons back as JJJ was my favorite thing in the world

I enjoyed this theme of 'be careful what you wish for' Peter was grappling with.

SPOILER

I mean the fight before Peter is hit with the train. Not the first fight. Where ever he was meeting with Fury to try and tell him about Beck.

This so much, everything about the villians so far with MCU Spiderman is that they are everyday people. Beck was smart yes but so was Keaton in Homecoming. They are killing it with these movies.

I can totally see Beck coming back, with actual powers.

So some cool easter eggs I read about today -- in the opening scene when Nick Fury is at the town in Mexico when the sand elemental showed up -- the license plate of the car is ASM-465. Amazing Spider-Man #4 (1965) is when Sandman first showed up as a villain. Also, in Venice, one of the boats in the background has a serial number ASM-212. Issue 212 is when Hydro Man first appeared.

I didn't get that at all. The theme was perception (Peter) and deception (Beck)..."things are not as they seem." Spider-sense was on the fritz, Peter had to learn to use his other senses. When he closed his eyes in order to sense the drones at the end. Also hence the glasses as the mcguffin...Peter used them to see, Beck used them to hide.

The literary tools were brilliant and that's why this is my favorite script of the entire MCU lineup.

It was Berlin. Peter went there on his own to find Fury. Venice was the water elemental, Prague was the fire.

I didn’t say I liked the movies where the story was driven by fight scenes, I said I liked the ones that included awesome fight scenes, meaning stand out really well done action and choreography. There’s no reason it couldn’t have both, this just didn’t.

The posts in this thread from people believing they were introducing a multiverse and then actually arguing against people who pointed out the obvious reason not to believe that...did not age well

^this is such an odd post. If you go back and read page 1, it’s almost completely baseless.

The “people” who pointed out the reason not to believe the trailer, was one person, Frosh, and the “people” arguing against it was also just one person, in one post, simply stating that Beck says there are multiple earths in the trailer. Then Frosh pointed out the Beck is a known liar, and that was the totality of the discussion about it.

All the rest was just discussing the merits of using a multiverse as a storytelling tool.

I see 2 different people believing it specifically as it related to the trailer, and at least 2 others talking about it like it's something that's just part of the Marvel universe as a given. The latter can be forgiven as other movies have made some reference, but the pretext for the discussion was the trailer, which we now know was a lie from Beck.

Yes I used "people" incorrectly, as I posted it off my memory of the discussion and not actually going back and checking, which I've now done and see that I don't find my post to be odd at all

thank you for you time and interest

^^I don't get what point you are trying to make? We were discussing conjecture based on a movie trailer. Yeah, it was wrong, but so what? Lots of movie theories based on trailers are wrong. It's not like it was even an argument or anything.

its a post on a college message board saying some people who believed something in a trailer didn't age well

I didn't spend 3 hours crafting a perfect dig to make people feel bad, I had a passing thought after watching the movie about the previous conversation and then I defended myself. I apologize for making everyone involved so upset about this. If it would make everyone feel better I'll just claim I was wrong so we can stop talking about it

Apparently Sony is keeping Watts/Tom Holland, but bye bye Spider-Man in the MCU..

No way in hell they actually let that happen. WAY too much money being made for both sides. I think this is all posturing on Sony's part because they know damn well they'll ruin the franchise if left to their own devices.

It's all about the money. If Sony thinks they can make more money with their own Spider-Man movies, they'll do it. They want to make their own Spider-verse with Venom and Morbius and all that. Realistically there is no way it will come anywhere near as close to the MCU in terms of profit as they think it will though.

could they still mention the multi-verse and things from the MCU and just not have the actors, or would that violate their IP?

The concept of a multi-verse is in the realm of real life theoretical physics so I don't think they would be restricted by that?

After reading more about this, it looks like Disney is actually the bad guy here. They were due for more negotiations and Sony just wanted to keep things the way they have already been doing things. Disney said no to that though and wanted a bigger share of the profits from any Spider-Man appearances in MCU movies.

I'm a Disney fanboi so I'm biased, but I can't say I blame them. Spider-Man is going to draw crowds regardless, but his placement among the MCU universe (multi-verse?) draws BIG crowds. In the end I think Disney will get a little more piece of the pie and Sony will feel good about themselves for buying the property in the first place.

One thing to keep in mind about all of this -- if Marvel hadn't sold the movie rights to Sony back in the 90s, it is likely that the MCU as we know it would not have existed. Since Marvel was almost bankrupt, they sold the movie rights of their A-listers (Spidey, X-Men, F4, etc). If they hadn't have done that, they wouldn't have had to dig into their B-listers (at the time at least) like Iron Man and Thor.

I read this news as Tom Holland can still appear in the MCU movies, but Feige won't get a lead producer credit on the Sony films. Not the end of the world, really.

I don't think a wall is being put up between Marvel and Sony, unless Feige's lack of involvement is that wall. Hell, the Far From Home writers weren't privy to the Endgame script and only saw the movie very late in the filmmaking process.

Went to see the extended version...only difference I noticed was the opening scenes that people complained weren't in the movie after being in the trailers.
