They replaced the heat pump with a new upgraded unit and the zoning kit/controller, plus the nest thermostats. Electric bill went down to $180

couldn't a january to march temp difference explain a lot of that? i just checked my history and my march run time was almost 1/4 my january run time.

Possibly, but we tried to track it on cold nights and it seemed to do much better. They also offered another year full warranty on it to make sure it goes through summer and winter okay.
