I have had every oculus since the DK2 (as well as a few windows MR headsets). Every time someone would come to my house and play with my VR stuff they would be amazed and immediately want to get set up at home. Then after learning they need a very expensive PC to run the (also expensive) goggles..they realize its probably out of reach and the conversation ends.
Well thats finally over..now i can now share my love for VR with everyone..i bought an Oculus quest and its amazing. Now I dont have to invite people into my basement to try VR, i can bring it to them..and when they ask how much it is i can just say 399..done.

wireless standalone VR is the future..and with the ability to stream full quality PCVR games to the quest with very low latency makes it a potential replacement for PCVR headsets as well. The lack of wires is a huge benefit over pcvr in itself...

i really think more people need to know about this new system

no, i dont work for oculus or facebook

so it plays real games, not lower quality "mobile" versions of real games?

of course some of the games have modified graphics etc to achieve playability on the snapdragon processor..but as everyone who has played it will agree, its not noticeable. Even roborecall which had a lot of graphics dumbed down for the quest looks great in the headset and the tracking and evrything else is perfect. Once immersed in a game its really hard to notice slight differences in quality vs the PC version. The portability and lack of wires trumps any graphical gains you may get with a full PC running vr IMO.
And like i said, there are solutions to stream your PC vr games to the quest with perfect button mapping and tracking..its a game changer imo. (its still improving so its not exactly perfect yet but this thing has only been out for a month) by the next generation of the hardware I think wired headsets will be a thing of the past.

another thing you can do (which will go through battery quicker) is increase the pixel density just like you can with the PCVR stuff. Not necessary IMO, but if you want the highest visual quality with a (possible) reduction in smoothness it can be done.

And as far as FULL games..yes definitely. They even have announced onward VR is coming to the quest, which is an awesome FPS war sim...and pavlov VR is already available as an alpha .

since the quest runs on android you can sideload all kinds of apps and utilities and non official games as well.

I watched this video: https://youtu.be/ta6PQ2YRAmk and thought the graphics in the recommended games were all pretty poor.

Is PCVR really not any better than that?
