my hot take:

mckay was obviously unimpressive in his first real test of the season. with that said, i'm willing to cut him some slack since it was his first road game and i think it's reasonable to hope/expect him to improve. QB play was a major issue yesterday. but i'm more concerned about the defense. ideally, 27 points would be enough to win. i'm not defending mckay...he was downright awful in the 2nd half. but QB play isn't the only issue this team faces.

(maybe this belongs in the season thread but whatever), perhaps this season will be more a rebuild than i expected. i knew we lost a lot, but i thought with a favorable schedule we might be able to still have a good season on paper. yesterday set my expectations back.

3-3-5 is garbage defense if the other team decides to run. I was skeptical when I heard we were switching but I'm now fully against it. If the LBs are so good (I don't think they're better as a group than the DL) then switch to a 4-3 or sub in more often in in the 4-2.

Also garbage playcalling when it's tied 21-21 at half, your RBs are consistently getting yards and your QB struggles and you just abandon the run game. I'm much more concerned with the co-oc situation than the QB one. McKay will be fine.

^yeah the play calling really head scratching at times, I thought. McKay threw the ball 48 times. And it wasn’t a blow out until late in the 4th...no need to pass that much when it was a close game for 3 quarters. Not to mention the pass game wasn’t exactly working anyways.
