I don't have an issue with it if someone is out walking their dog or running or something without a mask. If they are inside a public place like a supermarket though, the judgment flows.

The only time I don't wear a mask is when I walk the dogs, or go for a run. I go out of my way to stay far away from people though.

Non-mask wearers, and people that were masks over their chin are icky.

I was in a grocery store yesterday, and some unmasked lady got up RIGHT behind me in line, close enough where i could have elbowed her. And she had a little kid with her that touched my leg several times. I was fuming.... I probably should have said something but didn't. I could tell it would have led to a heated confrontation that I didn't want to deal with.

It's sad that you can tell many people's political affiliation by whether they wear a mask or not.

Maybe a different way of saying the same thing, but what gets me is that some folks won't wear a mask because of what they think that says about their political affiliation. The politicization of this whole mess is disgusting.

Dumb people: OPEN THE ECONOMY WE NEED OUR JERBS! You better open, this is tyranny! You can't keep us at home!
Various governments:OK, we've heard your concerns, and we ourselves are concerned about jobs and the economy. We are going to gradually open things up and see how it goes. We do request/require you wear a mask at certain institutions.
Dumb people: FUCK YOU you can't make me wear a mask! This is tyranny!

No shit I had a lady do this to me a few weeks ago. Rolled up on me in an electric power chair dripping in jewelry with paid help footsteps behind. I'm standing there trying to decide which Mayo to buy as Dukes was sold out. Scoffs to me "You know... Folks are really supposed to be six feet apart!"

Earlier, I overheard her being ugly to her help in the produce section so I figured she was due... I talked some polite shit to her then went on about my day.

^ That essentially is what frustrates me about non mask wearers. Takes so little effort to tie a bandana around your face.

And now that its socially acceptable (lol) to make $ off PPE, stylish masks are readily available on the internet.

I've heard about some restaurants who don't allow masks inside for pick-up orders, worried about being robbed apparently, and making curbside-pick-up mandatory

My att internet got enhanced this week. Guy that came in to check wires had a mask. I def didn’t.

Our corp office sent some masks a few weeks back that literally cover mouth, like not one of those puffier ones where at least you can breath, this is spandex over your mouth. No coworkers wear them either. Told boss if forced to wear I am calling OSHA or cutting hole over mouth so i don’t pass out

I don't mask up really. I truly do respect the 6 foot rule and do what I can to keep distance, but that's where I stop protecting someone's aunt or grandma that shouldn't be visited or out and about anyways if she's high risk. Curbside is that way. If you mask, I don't judge. If you don't, I don't judge either. I'm just trying to get my shit and leave. If you confront me about it and get within 6 feet, you fucked yourself anyways. Yell at me across the store and watch me ignore you from a distance. You're out buying glamour fruit and snacks and shit, you aren't trying to survive, you're trying to stay comfortable. If you're actually concerned about catching this shit, stay the fuck home.

It's not about the people who are out and about catching this shit. It's about essential workers and otherwise healthy people who have to be out and about catching it and spreading it to vulnerable populations. Wearing a mask is something you do to protect those populations.

What's so hard about wearing a mask?

Exactly. This shit should be a mandate but because 'Murcia and #FREEDOMMMMMMMM we are incapable of mandating no-brainer things like wearing a mask in places where you are close to other people.

I never said it was hard to wear a mask. I'm just not that concerned about it.

"lol has that actually happened to you?" yeah, some karen that wanted me to think about my family members.

Perhaps I'm slightly jaded by this whole thing given that my sister-in-law died 2 weeks ago because she couldn't get hospital care because they were only taking in covid cases and also because I lost my job. I dunno... But, I'm also looking at the numbers and .07% of people confirmed means I could be in a room with 50 people and likely nobody has it. glass half full? Either way, I stand by my saying that people can do curbside and delivery if they're that concerned. Not saying they can't go shopping. They have options for that level of fear.

I eat my vegetables. I get them from the grocery store. I also didn't say I'm tough.

you don't need a pineapple, a jar of cherries, and some raisinets to survive (actually seent this). if that's all you're checking out with in your basket, you're not surviving. that's a leisurely shopping trip to stay comfortable. person had a mask on too, whether that's relevant or not.

^^once again, I just am not that concerned. I don't think these half ass masks are that effective in enclosed spaces and I don't think the risk is that great based on the population and confirmed case count. I also don't think people should be in enclosed spaces with other people if they aren't willing to take on that risk. Curbside and delivery.

wondering your opinion on if toilet paper is just a comfort thing, or something necessary for people

if somebody wants to spend their $1200 check on powerball tickets, i understand criticizing them, but I don't get the judgment over what types of food someone buys from the grocery

but if you are going to go buy some fancy cherries or raisinets, why not cover your nose and mouth in the process? the first time or 2 i wore a mask to the teeter i felt i looked silly or paranoid, but once you get over that, it's not a very difficult thing to do

btw, not judging you, it takes some people longer than others to come around to certain things

I bought a bidet when this all started, so I'm ok on the TP thing. I mean, yeah, you gotta wipe your ass. you can also cut up a t-shirt and reuse the fabric to wipe your ass too. just put it in the laundry. So, in terms of survival, yeah, it's kind of a luxury item.

As far as what's in the basket, I think it's safe to infer that the pineapple, jar of cherries, and raisinets weren't to ensure a next meal in the event of catastrophe. I'm just commenting on the survival vs. comfort aspect of the contents of the basket. You do you, I'm not judging. Just don't come at me like you're in the grocery store because your life depends on it with those raisinets, my guy.

also, I lived in japan for 7 years, wearing masks was a lifestyle. I'm not new to this. it isn't a discomfort thing, it isn't me being right-wing, it isn't me being rebellious, I'm just not that concerned.

for every person who goes to the store for some luxury items, there are plenty who go there for the food they'll be consuming for that day or week or whatever. grocery food is a lot cheaper than most restaurants so not everyone is going to have all of their food delivered. just because Karen gives you the stinkeye doesn't mean some crude face covering isn't a decent idea.

did you study epidemiology in japan? or does wearing a mask for an extended period of time make you an expert on new viruses?

neither. never said I was an expert. obviously, we don't have ANY experts on this new virus. I mentioned Japan because you said "i felt i looked silly or paranoid, but once you get over that, it's not a very difficult thing to do". I never said it was difficult or cared how I felt about it because...experience.

Quote :

It actually contributes to my lack of concern. They're obviously out for an unnecessary shopping trip. It must not be that concerning.

curbside. also, grocery stores deliver.

I don't let Karen influence my decisions either way. Karens gon Karen
