Because of the plague I've been working from my dining room table on my Dell XPS 13 laptop so that I can keep an eye on my kids while they virtually school. After half a year of putting up with this, I decided to get a nice monitor. The ultrawide monitors looks liked they would be a good fit for my needs so I starting to poke around the internet looking for deals. I found an eBay listing for a like-new Dell U3419W running with a pretty low bid, free shipping, and a seller that didn't looks like a n00b or a scammer. I stalked the auction and managed to win with fairly low bid meaning I had picked up a really nice monitor for ~60% retail.
So this was Monday. I paid for the auction via PayPal around 12:30 that afternoon. I received the shipping notice around midnight that evening. Now here's were things get odd. The next morning I'm getting the kids ready to start school and the doorbell rings. I wasn't expecting anything, but, sure enough, the FedEx guy has my monitor. It shipped via FedEx's highest-priority overnight service. So that's totally awesome, but WTF?! I plugged the package and delivery information into the calculator on FedEx's website and the retail cost for that level of shipping is more than I paid for the monitor. I know business accounts can get a pretty good discount, but still: $$$.
So, what kind of scam am I a part of? The monitor is great. It was either open-box of factory refurbished. And, I'm stoked I got it so fast. I just can't figure out why it came so fast.  11/4/2020 6:37:49 PM
