^^don't think that really had anything to do with it. The athletic got rid of most of their hockey beat writers once it was sold to NYT because they were losing money hand-over-fist. The founders of that site essentially just used a completely unsustainable business model to get a huge payday from the eventual sale.

She didn't get moved to another region. She stopped working for the athletic because they eliminated her position. This is dumb. Now the athletic just contacts out occasional pieces from people who are beat writers for other media outlets.

Jay Davis didn't have an arm worth a shit. Marcus Stone didn't have a brain worth a shit. Put them together and they would have made a fine QB. Also maybe Davis would have been fine if they had completely revamped the offense, but he was never gonna be able to do the things Rivers did. Stone just couldn't do things like read a defense and process things at game speed and he never got remotely better at them in 4 years of being a QB.

Stone should have been moved to TE as a goddamn freshman, but Amato would never do that because recruiting stars mattered too much to him. He played favorites with those highly rated guys to the detriment of himself and the team.

During Rivers senior year, I remember Jay Davis coming in during garbage time and looking serviceable. Philip was just that good that he could make Davis look decent.
