In my defense I think Newcastle has had a bunch of injuries and United sucks way more than if thought.

Racking up 4 points from 6 CL matches and finishing dead last in a group that featured Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Priceless.

Wow Liverpool have averaged 3.5 goals vs United in the last two games!

In all seriousness must be fun to spend that much on your team just to park the bus vs a rival

"Liverpool have been denied a place at the expanded 2025 Club World Cup, and a potential windfall of around £50m, after Fifa confirmed the criteria around qualification for the tournament.

Back in March, the governing body decided that no more than two teams per country would be guaranteed participation in the controversial 32-team event, which will be played in the US between 15 June and 13 July. Now they have confirmed that Manchester City and Chelsea will be the only Premier League sides certain of taking part. Should Arsenal win this season’s Champions League, an exception would be made and they would be England’s third representative in a 12-strong European contingent."

Arsenal and City can't complain about their CL draws. Inter vs. Atletico is the most interesting clash on paper. Fingers crossed for Madrid Derby and Der Klassiker quarterfinals.

The last penalty was pretty weak. Maybe the GK caught Jota but the delayed reaction was pretty bad on his flop.

However, Liverpool bossed that game.

Gets to leave on his own terms which is nice, but yeah Liverpool better have a nice backup plan. Seeing a few places where he let the ownership know about this 3 months ago, so if they have any sense they already have an idea of where to go next.

He's confirmed to be leaving as well. They could do worse than Xabi Alonso, but he's probably high on the radar of most big clubs at this point given what he's doing in Germany at the moment.

Bummer about Klopp leaving but knew it was inevitable. What Alonso has done with Leverkusen is pretty remarkable in a short time. From what've read, Alonso, Gerrard and Mourinho are supposedly the top 3 but this is of course rumor at best. I've also heard Zidane is on the list.

My thoughts:

Alonso makes the most sense, is young and clearly can get players to play his style which would fit well in the PL. His record as a coach is limited and people are clearly riding high on him because of his success at Leverkusen. Still don't know how this will translate to the PL but I think he's worth a shot more than anyone else for the long term.

Gerrard scares me a bit. Hasn't really done anything to warrant such a huge role like this and I am not sure he's going to be the right fit but the fans could give him the benefit of the doubt bc of who he is in.

Mourinho is a HELL NO for me. I don't want him anywhere near the club. He is about as far from Klopp's personality as you can get.

Zidane - better him than Mourinho.

Alonso has a contract release clause that allows him to leave early for 3 clubs which is REALLY interesting IF TRUE... Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern.

I don't know if there is a millionaire famous young athlete I feel more sorry for than Darwin Nunez, man has the worst luck! Hit the woodwork 4x today.

Also thought Chelsea deserved a penalty early but not sure it would have mattered much.

They could do a lot worse than Frank, he's done well with very little at Brentford. I somewhat doubt they go that route, but it would make sense given how Brentford play.

They deserved 2 penalties, the one on Nkunku was more egregious (definitely would not have changed outcome at that point) especially considering the penalty Tierney awarded last night as the VAR ref in the Wolves-ManU match.

One doesn't really know if the early penalty would have changed much, but it is possible as goals change matches. Liverpool were clearly superior but Tierney had a howler as a ref and he should be demoted for the next match week.
