Will Grier is relevant in a Panthers thread because he was once a Panther.
To be honest, I had completely forgot about him because I didn't realize he played so little since he was released by the Panthers.
Fast forward to 2023. I see him playing in a Cowboys preseason game and am surprised to see him in the league.
I thought the Panthers had wasted a higher draft pick on him, but according to Wiki, he was 100th overall.

I missed the play y’all are talking about (family stuff boooo). But yeah penalties around the goalline are always unfairly weighted. It’s bullshit. Offense has the ball at the 5. Personal foul on defense is a 2.5 yard penalty. Personal foul on O is a 15 yarder. Bullshit.

That one was offsetting penalties. On a kickoff/punt (can't remember), a Falcons player blocked a Panthers player out of bounds. Panthers player takes the kick return, runs along the base of the goal line, and is horse-collar tackled. Because both fouls took place after the kick, they offset equally and play starts from the end of the kick return -- where he was illegally tackled, at the 1 yard line. I agree it seems unfair and odd

Yeah that penalty call on the punt was shitty, but running backwards after fielding a punt inside the 10 was not smart.

I am still confused at how they threw a flag on CJ Henderson (who already sucks) when Pitts basically pushed him out of the way to make the catch.

I don't see how Scott Fitterer keeps his job after this season. While Bryce Young could be the best QB in that draft class, we have no quality receivers and our "best" receiver is hurt. Our CB's suck and the one everyone praises as good has hamstrings made out of overcooked pasta and has missed more games than he has played in. Brian Burns started strong but Atlanta adjusted and he disappeared after half time.

I was equally confused by that. Ended up not mattering since Pitts completed the catch anyways (how couldn't he? He was the one doing the mugging!) but I don't understand that call. Is CJ supposed to just detach his head to keep it from getting in Pitts' way?

It’s fine for a rookie QB to struggle. And like I said, I’m not writing him off yet. Offense has more issues than the QB too. But trading up for him is what I question. Trading up to 1.1 for a guy that isn’t necessarily a slam dunk with a team that lacks serious offensive weapons is just a confusing move. It’s easy to question in hindsight and we’re only 6 quarters in.

I’m just questioning the decision making that led to trading up for him, but I’m not saying he’s a bust.
