I’m old enough to remember looking down on tailgating in the ESA/RBC/PNC lot as being less than “real” tailgaters

I realized how dumb that was years ago, and now find it comical that people are clutching their pearls over the new development taking over some of those spots

missed this earlier:

Quote :
" Everyone saying crap like that obviously does not attend the games. And since we, the people who *do* attend the games, are the ones who get impacted the most, I feel like we have the most right to be vocal about it."

guess who still attends games and tailgates?

Quote :
" Also there's no way that is going to be a venue for"local bands" when they say it's 5000 seats."

we’ve had more than a few local bands break big nationally over the years, and you don’t have to sell out a 5000 seat venue to have a good show

Sure, but it's disingenuous to say that this is going to be a venue for local bands and you fuckin know that. This is going to be a venue to bring in nationally touring acts who aren't big enough to fill arenas and that's fine. No need to spout bullshit about being a venue for local bands. I guess maybe scotty mccreery could have a residency there or something lol.

has anyone connected to the development claimed that it’s a venue for local musicians?

If moving the horse complex isn’t an option then I think the next obvious choice would be to just ban motor vehicles from all lots and require that people travel to the game and tailgate via horse. We could probably double or triple the number of total spots available because horse parking requires much less space than regular vehicles. Horsegating could become a great new NCSU tradition if the powers that be allow it to happen.

Someone I know who helped do some of the early development plans said that. Not sure if they were over-simplifying, making assumptions, or that it's been said by someone involved.

so it’s fair to say that it’s never been officially classified as a venue for local musicians, and that it’s a silly thing to try and argue

The talk of music venue is particularly odd to me. Because 1) the arena is right there. 2) Kane Realty is building a "small" venue in their Downtown South development (just north of 40 by exit 298) and 3) supposedly Red Hat downtown is being moved into something bigger (but also still downtown).

Almost never bad to have more options, but seems like a sudden glut of venues.

you get different acts in a 3-5k venue than you do in an arena.

red hat is 5kish also. and that one you're referencing is the same ballpark as the above. but apparently the demand for local venues is there

As long as we can replace these spots over at the fairgrounds or horse complex or wherever I think this will be good for recruiting at least

As long as a loss of 5% of parking spaces doesn't interrupt the Walk of Champions route, I will be happy!
