how about - letter in correct place = [A]
letter in puzzle, but not correct place = {A} or (A)
letter not in puzzle: just the letter itself? or should there be a strikethrough A

wait for someone else to make a guess before going a second time

so 6 guesses for the standard 5 letter puzzle; maybe we could do 7 guesses for 6-letter word, and so forth up to 11 guesses for 10 letter words

does it even make sense to do a Wordle which includes multiple contestants?
