course :MDS 410

course comments :This was one of those courses for the "Science, Technology, and Society" requirement; it was purely about environmental pollution. I thought of it as an "environmental awareness" class.
class :Fall 2001 section 001

class comments :The presentation of the material was average; most of it was relatively easy. Mostly lecture with one guest visitor and a few videos. The major project was a group project graded jointly by the instructor and by the class. Attendance and participation was required but it was unclear as to exactly how she measured it. Tests were about half short answer, half essay. Grading was fairly lenient on the essays.

instructor comments :Nothing distinguishing; tests were graded quickly but she had to go back and make corrections on the grading for first test and didn't get around to it until the end of the semester, if at all. She came across as a goofy, moderately senile old woman; VERY biased on environmental issues (we could tell). Admitted some test questions were unfair but wouldn't discount them. I got the vague impression that she liked female students more than males, but nothing noticeable.
