Attendance taken, and the class usually lasts the full length. But there's nothing to stop you from getting up and leaving if you don't need to be there to learn it. |

| course comments : | Eh; it's programming. Either you can do it very naturally, or you really struggle with it. Programming classes seem pretty clearly divided that way, without much middle ground. As far as an intro to Java, it's decent, but it seemed like they throw you right into it without explaining exactly what everything means--for instance, in the first labs, you have to deal with GUI's, and they just tell you to ignore certain parts of the code and only worry about very small bits. The labs are a bit worthless, I thought. The tests aren't so bad, if you study the old ones online. Once you do your 10 and are satisfied with the grades (10/10 on each), you don't have to do them anymore... and for that matter don't have to go to class. Powerpoint slides are online. The lectures are a step through of the powerpoint for the most part. Class usually lasted the whole time. Book is worth buying for reference sake. |

If you didn't have your programs finished, you had to stay there and work on it. so do the programs and lab material before hand so you don't have to stay. Don't cheat on the programs either. YOU WILL GET CAUGHT!!!! |

| class comments : | Programs REQUIRED the aid of TA's, as a lot of the material/concepts weren't covered in the lectures. Lab assignments were pretty easy though. |

| class comments : | Class was very short. Schwartz gets straight to the point of every lecture and then you are out. I found the lectures to be very interesting and helpful. Notes are all online so you don't have to write during class. Quizes are given but they are all online to look at and study. Tests are straight forward and easy if you completed the work. |

| instructor comments : | Very intellegent, he really knows what he's talking about. Can answer almost any programming question that you can throw at him. Responds with lightning speed to e-mails and message board posts. Helpful outside of class. He is THE teacher to take for any CSC class. Schwarz is the MAN. |

| instructor comments : | Tried to be entertaining, but got annoying and had a few common places sayings that got you on your toes because they were usually said when he gave one of his 10 pop quizes. The quizes were pretty easy though and he never gave one of the harder ones. Even had a surprise one which was something like "what have we been studying?" answer - arrays
He also walks on his tippie toes...watch it, its funny.
