class comments :Didn't really care for the class. I got bored a lot. It was just a bunch of algorithms and figuring out how they worked but it was so easy that I didn't really try at all. Burnt out
instructor :Nelson
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :Nice guy. Curved a lot I think. Gave a ton of extra credit. I didn't study at all because of my bloody CSC316 programs. Very easy class. Could have made an A if I could have cared.

course comments :The material was good to learn. I'm glad I know what I know from it. The book was horrible, though. Very boring reading.

class rating :1 - Bad
class comments :The instructor understood the material, but does not teach well at all. At times I think we knew more than him.
instructor :Nelson
instructor rating :0 - Horrible
instructor comments :Nelson is not at all a good with people. He does not display things well on the bored. He babbles. He is ALWAYS making mistakes. Not ONCE did I NOT have to get things REgraded because he screwed up. He's very out of it, has too much on his plate, poorly organized, etc. Too much trouble to deal with.

class comments :No attendance, but she requires the newer book, which was only different from the old one by the cover. Boring.
instructor :Williams
instructor rating :1 - Bad
instructor comments :Boring, boring, boring. When she did teach programming (isn't that what we are there for?), it is in some archaic assembly language that no one but her was alive for. Programs are done in java (wtf, a java OS?). She was easy though.

course :CSC 246
course rating :2 - Average
course comments :More concept-based than programming. Easiest CSC course I've taken so far.
class :Spring 2003 section 003
grade received :N/A
class rating :1 - Bad
class comments :Programs were entirely too easy because data structures wasn't a prereq / coreq. How the heck do you explain OS algorithms when people aren't expected to know the data stuctures underlying them? Weekly quizzes got annoying at times, though it forced attendence in a class that 90% of people would skip otherwise. This course would make a nice compliment if you are taking CSC316 or CSC326 in the same semester.
instructor :Williams
instructor rating :2 - Average
instructor comments :Industry adjunct for the semester, so nothing gained and nothing lost. She showed us some IBM mainframe assembly stuff she worked on, which was kinda cool. I can't complain much about her because it was mostly the course that sucked.

course :CSC 246
course rating :2 - Average
course comments :The material was kind of boring and it was hard to pay attention, this could be because of how late in teh day the class was.
class :Fall 2003 section 001
grade received :B
class rating :2 - Average
class comments :The course was challenging. Programming was done in C which they gave a 2 week crash course in using it with some pretty large programs to get you accustomed to it. After this teh programming assignments got easier but tehy were still to frequent. The book helped for studying but the tests were mostly off of the slides. There was a midterm and a final. Most of your grade was based on the homeworks. Overall the class was pretty hard and required a lot of time each week.
instructor :Mueller
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :Mueller was very nice but kind of boring in class. If the assignments couldn't be done on time and a few people complained about it then he would give teh class an extension.

course :CSC 246
course rating :3 - Good
course comments :I found this course to be interesting. The material it covered seemed a little advanced for a 200 level class, but it wasn't too difficult.
class :Fall 2003 section 002
grade received :A
class rating :3 - Good
class comments :A lot of people disliked this course because they accused Mueller of not being able to teach. The homeworks weren't too difficult. I liked how they dealt with real-life topics though, like process id, client/server communication, and other stuff. Don't get too turned off by the beginning of the semester. I felt like I was in a wind tunnel and everything said just went flying over my head. I thought I was gonna be screwed when it came time for the midterm, but I got an A and didn't study much at
instructor :Mueller
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :A lot of people had problems with Mueller, but I did not. I thought he was a good guy. Whenever the class requested an extension he always gave us one (from what I remember). His teaching methods weren't bad. He has an accent but it's not strong enough that you can't understand him. Tests are not that difficult and were graded fairly.

class comments :I learned most of what was important about Operating Systems from the book itself (GREAT resource imo), and not from the lectures. I hate when teachers do their lessons in powerpoint.
instructor :Miller
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :Miller's a good instructor, but she can be really harsh on students who asks questions. She hates questions. Don't ask them. She is great in her collaborations with the TA's, and this I applaud her for.
