course comments :this class is worthless to me. I probably cant even use it as an elective. I like economics and wanted to minor in it, but neglected to reaserch. I thought te natureal progression was micoro(201) to macro(202). NOPE! I figured out why the m/f ratio was so good in this class: it is composed entirely of management majors.

instructor comments :Varoon became a friend of mine. He seems high strung all the time but that just makes it funny when you loosen him up. He is somewhat lacking in social skills b/c he's from India so sometimes he comes off harsh. He doesn't mean it though, he just gets straight to the point. I liked him a lot.

class comments :No homework. His grading policy is straightforward. He offered 7 extra credit points that could be added onto your final grade. Aside from studying for tests and the occasional quiz, this class required no work.

instructor comments :He's a pretty funny guy, but is prone to poke fun of students. He at least tried to make the most of what is dry material. He was very accommodating to your schedule if you needed help.

class :Fall 2000 section 002

class rating :3 - Good
class comments :Erickson knows his stuff about economics. He explains things well, but he can get off on tangents a lot. You don't take many notes, he mainly lectures from the book. He gives out some worksheets. His tests are pretty easy. BUY THE COURSE PACK! His tests don't change much.
instructor :Erickson
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :Erickson is the man. He can get boring, but then again it is economics. He gives everyone a stretch break. Sample test question: "Who is the chairman of the federal reserve?" A. Phillip Rivers B. Ray Robinson C. Koren Robinson D. Alan Greenspan.

instructor comments :Kalidas Jana is the man. He is hilarious and tries to make riddles to make the class fun, but is Indian and can't speak well so it just makes everyone laugh. He is really nice and respectful to students and jokes around a lot. Definately take him.

class :Spring 2004 section 001
grade received :D
class rating :2 - Average
class comments :Note: My grade is a result of slacking off, and is not an accurate reflection of the class. 4 tests - thats your whole grade. Textbook is of debatable usefulness, but the course pack contains old exams - that are in some cases almost the exact test he gives you. Class time is spent on lecture. Again, the tests are VERY similar to what is in the course pack.
instructor :Erickson
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :Very dry in lecture and sometimes goes off on strange tangents. A genuinely nice man, though, who is very approachable and helpful outside of class.

instructor comments :Termos was not great but not terrible. He could speak english with regularity, which is rare in Econ teachers. He cared about the students understanding the material, but many times had difficulty explaining difficult concepts. Overall, i give him an "eh..." But then again, i don't like econ...

class comments :The class was pretty easy. Studying helps but no work is required outside the class. The was a pretty strict attendance policy. I think you could miss like 4 classes or so. If you did miss a test or quiz, there is no make-up, your final exam just counts more.
instructor :Eryuruk

instructor comments :She was a good teacher. More easy to understand than most econ. professors at state and she is friendly and somewhat humorous. She is a student herself therefore she does not give any homework or other out of class assignments that she would have to grade.

course :EC 202
course rating :0 - Horrible
course comments :EC202 has to be the most boring and tedious class ever offered. I absolutely hated the material...we learned the same thing everyday and it was torture to attend class. I cannot stress how bad the material is for this class. DO NOT TAKE as an elective, and if it's required, Godspeed to you.
class :Fall 2004 section 003
grade received :A
class rating :2 - Average
class comments :I only say average b/c the teacher was kind, funny, and hooked us up on grading. The material, however, was horrific. Most boring class ever. GDP everyday, you honestly get to the point where you do not care about the words coming out of her mouth. There was very little HW and work involved (thank God) and her grading was bomb, so everyone made awesome grades. I enjoyed her style of teaching and lack of outside work, but the material is terrible.
instructor :Sawant
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :Couldn't ask for anyone better w/ this terribly boring material. She didn't exactly make it interesting (tried and true lecture every class...so boring) BUT she made up for it w/ VERY little HW, EASY quizzes for credit, and easy tests. Her grading rocked. Miss a Q? 2 points off. Awesome stuff...easy to make an A.

course :EC 202
course rating :3 - Good
course comments :Not exactly rocket science here folks...this class is a pretty standard introduction to concepts and graphs from macroeconomics. If you already took EC 201, it will make the first few weeks of the course a little easier because some of the concepts are related.
class :Fall 2004 section 008
grade received :A+
class rating :3 - Good
class comments :Not a bad class at all. I would have given it a higher rating, but the class was in Harrelson Hall, which totally blows. She had no teaching aids - such as overhead projectors, or even a functional chalkboard - but she did a great job breaking down the concepts in spite of it all. The course is in Nelson Hall next semester, so this shouldn't be an issue.
instructor :Boldea
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :She has a good sense of humor, and often uses experiences from her own life or those of students which are sometimes pretty funny. She also did an excellent job making herself available outside of class, and assignments were returned promptly. Her course website was also very good because it had practice exams and reviews for exams. She isn't one of those professors who tells you to study one thing, then screws you over on the exam by asking you something completely different.

class comments :Ms. Alexander is a good teacher. I've had many worse. She's not a big fan of homework, so if you need constant prodding to keep up, don't take her. Final grade was something like 3 tests at 23.1% each, and the rest being the final. Drops lowest test. No attendance policy, but she tells you at the start of class that if you miss class a lot, there will be no sympathy for you at the end of the course, if you should end up in a situation where an extra tenth or two makes a big difference.
instructor :Alexander
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :She's very sweet. Often, I skipped class instead of struggling to stay awake, because I felt she'd be more bothered by someone sleeping than an empty seat. If you don't really care about the class itself, take her, because she's hot.
