| course comments : | I wish I have known this before taking the class. Do Not go to his class. Read the book, the tests are exactly like the examples in the book. |

| instructor comments : | He starts talking and never stops. Thinks that he knows everything. His lecture is a waste of time but sometimes it might help. Do not ever try to make yourself smarter than him, he will keep making fun of you. |

| class comments : | the material was like ece 460 lite, so i was unmotivated...it could have been interesting though. i really don't think enough attention was paid to the hardware, and i think it should be in assembly rather than c. of course those things make it easier, but made me less attentive. |

| instructor comments : | he was a nice enough guy in person, so maybe he doesn't deserve it, but he is a horrible instructor. i found him completely useless. there are not certain areas of instruction he is bad at. there just aren't any he is decent at. |

| course comments : | All my 292j vets know this course was the bizbomb. Software engineering should work like this. The course basically is an essential exercise in a planned and executed team project, that lasts the whole semester. The fact that Java is part of it is entirely secondary; that's just the medium. Planning and execution is the name of the game. |

| class comments : | James was the right guy for this course. He's a fairly young guy so he still remembers all the pitfalls that he hit, and wants us to miss, during his early days as a developer. As such he lets us hit every one of them to learn from mistakes. Attendance is required but it's essentially a lab, so that's normal. There's no book, thumbs up. |

| instructor comments : | He's a good instructor. Most of the time he'll stay out of the way and point out where you went wrong afterward, so that you can learn from experience. Often he would get his buddies from IBM to come in and give us lectures or assistance on specific software engineering topics. I would also say that he's no-nonsense, except that a little nonsense is usually ok. |

| class comments : | Great class. I felt I had a better grip on the type of stuff that I would be doing in the future. Even though some peoples java knowledge was not as high as some others, everybody had a chance to contribute in each part of our projects. |

| class comments : | Great class, No homework, no test just fill out an evaluation and get a grade. Basically you assist seniors in their design project. They are heads of a corporate buisiness and you are their vitual employees. Really Hands on. |
