course :ENG 260
course rating :4 - Awesome
course comments :For English majors only. A great way to learn how to read if you get an interesting teacher.
class :Fall 2001 section 004

class rating :4 - Awesome
class comments :I had a lot of fun in this class. The reading assignments were never too lengthy and opinions mattered more than evidence. Evidence could be overturned by opinion. It was beautiful.
instructor :Harrison
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :Tough teacher. He makes his midterms a little too thorough for everyone's comfort but he usually lightens up by the exam when he realizes you'll never meet his expectations. He will always find "stylistic" problems with your papers even if the essay is logically, grammatically and in every other way perfect. Papers usually take a week or two to return to you but he'll grade them before the due date so you can get a guaranteed A. He has convenient office hours and puts himself out to help student

course :ENG 260
course rating :1 - Bad
course comments :Horrible useless course, but unfortunately required for English majors. A whole lot of terribly boring reading, most of which doesn't make any sense. Material differs from teacher to teacher.
class :Spring 2002 section 001
grade received :N/A
class rating :1 - Bad
class comments :Smaller class, max 20 people. Requires work but you can get by without doing the readings if you can bullshit in class. One oral presentation of an article, two major papers, three exams.
instructor :Herman
instructor rating :3 - Good
instructor comments :Excellent sense of humor, good interaction with students, relatively easy grader. I think he understands how useless and stupid this class is, and grades accordingly.

course :ENG 260
course rating :2 - Average
course comments :This class all depends on the professor, but since it's required for all English majors, there is no real way out of it. Literary theory is a bore regardless.
class :Spring 2003 section 001
grade received :A
class rating :1 - Bad
class comments :Since there were 15 people in class, I felt obligated to show up. Your grade depends on your papers, none of which delt with the theory readings we went through -- I doubt anyone in class even read the countless assignments, seeing as we never talked about them in class. We were required to read Don Quijote, and then attempted to apply it to every theory we disscused. Great if you like the book, if not ... it's going to be a long semester. Also, few people in the class even finished the ent
instructor :Rouphail
instructor rating :2 - Average
instructor comments :A wonderful person outside of class - very helpful. But she would constantly stay off topic and become disorganized. Rouphail is so enthusiastic, but she gets off topic, rambles, and I felt like I had accomplished nothing whenever I went to class. She also likes to relate every topic to some off-the-wall writer or story/poem, so sometimes we'd spend an entire hour listening to her talk to herself.

course :ENG 260
course rating :2 - Average
course comments :It was just a lot of material shoved at us in a small span of time. If your major has to do with literature, it's a good course, but I'm in journalism and it was just pointless.
class :Fall 2003 section 003
grade received :N/A
class rating :2 - Average
class comments :I just wasn't into it at all. Attendance is optional and I was usually more absent than there. He assigned us to pick out the most important sentences in the reading, but never graded our comments or handed them back, so we all just stopped doing it and he didn't seem to notice. It's really boring and a waste of time, but lucky for us English majors, it's required.
instructor :Kellner
instructor rating :1 - Bad
instructor comments :He's a nice person, bad teacher. He sat up there and lectured the whole time with little to no class input. His lectures were way over my head, and I'm pretty well-versed in literature. He didn't work with students on an individual level. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't reccomend him.

course :ENG 260
course rating :4 - Awesome
course comments :The material is very interesting. You read a selection of authors from Plato to Foucault. There IS a lot of reading, but you can get it done.
class :Fall 2004 section 002
grade received :B+
class rating :4 - Awesome
class comments :The class is easy. There are three papers, a midterm and a final. The entire class is spent skimming the works aloud and then engaging in in depth discussion with questions. Books are both required. There's not a strict attendance policy as far as grades though, but it makes him ANGRY if you miss.
instructor :Halpern
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :Things are graded promptly and not just that, but they actually have comments and questions. He's very friendly and funny. He enjoys asking a question as part of the daily roll. Take him if you get the chance.
