| instructor comments : | Once again, this was Silverberg. He was OK. He averages your grade by either the normal average, an average without homework, or just the final exam grade (highest of the 3.) He makes you know a ton of proofs, which sux, and he doesn't curve. |

Reviews the simplest of materials in class, comparable to PY205 problems, then assigns the hardest crap on God's green earth for HW and tests. Going to class was not even helpful for me unless I hadn't had a nap that day. Homeworks are graded without notice and are left in a pile outside his office door for you to find. Do not recommend this instructor whatsoever. |

This class was pretty rough but he tried to break it down in a logical manner so that it wouldn't seem overwhelming. He was very friendly, very fair on grading, always willing to help in or outside of class. He went above and beyond when you needed help and was always attentive and never seemed annoyed if you were confused or had a million questions. |

| class comments : | Tought material. Two tests and a final. More tests would have been nice. The averages were about 65 and 70. There was a design project though. No other 200 level class has one. The project wasn't too bad though. You just had to analyze a mechanical system and turn in a 10 page max paper. This was a distance ed class so the lectures and notes are online. There was an almost biweekly homework set and we were able to grade it ourselves for 2 extra points. |

| course comments : | Dynamics is a lot cooler than statics, but also a lot harder. You get to work with a lot of useful equations and you see how many of them will be useful in the future. The course does have lots of challenging work and won't be a walk through like statics was. |

Lots of examples on the board and will explain things that are difficult till we understand them. He also put a lot of time into weekly 2 hr. problem sessions, where it was optional to show up to the classroom in the evening and work problems as a class (usually about 20 students showed up) |

| class comments : | Was the material presented well? No it wasn't. Monkeys could have presented it better....stupid monkeys. This class is just plain hard. You have to study outside of class constantly if you want to do well. Actually scratch that...If you want to pass at all. There's a quiz every week, and you'll get out of class 5 minutes late every session. The bottom line is that you're just going to have to teach yourself this stuff and suck it up. |

| class comments : | Using the theory (see others) to solve problems in conjunction with the book is a bad idea. You basically are getting two sides to one story. Some people are able to pick up on memorizing the derivations, some arent. They are not hard to comprehend, just stupid to memorize. Problems from the book are fairly straightforward and sometimes fun to solve. It is a horrible book on theory too and comprises 1/3 of every test. I highly recommend you do not take this guy for dynamics, even if it means you will have to take it another semester. |

| class comments : | Grade was based on homework, group project, quizzes, and tests. So if you do bad on the tests you can bring your grade up. His tests weren't too hard though. Only complaint is that we did not have very much time to work on the project. Also, buy the course notes ASAP, they ran out and it took me weeks to get one. |

| class comments : | I took MAE301 not MSE208. Either way, Morton taught the material very well. It is similar to Physics 1 stuff. Physics 1 I barely pulled off a B-, I got a B+ in this class with ease. I went to his review sessins before exams and that was all the studying I did. |

I learned more from this guy than any other engineering teacher I have had. Hopefully I get him for Dynamics next semester (staff=Morton) hopefully. |
