the only redeeming fact was that we had the computers and comfy chairs. i liked the lab groups up until he switched it around... why? also, we got TWO submission on the EXAMS which was nice and 50 submissions on homework, which was amazing. |

I'm giving Abbot a 2 only because he was very friendly, and willing to work with students outside of class and grant all the extensions you wanted on homework (which had 50 submissions to begin with). but as far as teaching, he was a grad student and still has a long way to go before anyone learns anything in his class. |

Even if you EXPLICITLY asked for an example with numbers, worked through to the end, he wouldn't do it. He didn't think that was right or something. He would stand there and try to explain to you in words the concept. Granted, it was honors physics, but we need to see how it is done to get a real understanding of it...
Also, grades weren't representative of how well you were doing in class. Got a 62 on a test? |

The programming we did was pretty easy as well. Not having standard physics, it's hard to compare the two, but this class was enjoyable and I learned a lot. |

| course comments : | SCALEUP PY205 is pretty damn cool. The material was interesting and sometimes difficult, but you worked in groups so it wasn't too bad working problems and figuring out stuff. |

I think it was for the better though so we were sort of forced to study all throughout the class instead of just before tests. The thing that I felt was the most difficult was VPython.
The book doesn't really help like one would expect. You have to dig for formulas and answers to the tougher example problems aren't included. |

You have to come to class so you can do your lbq's, otherwise, it'd be really tempting to blow it off, since its just high school physics, with a lil bit of calc. |

| class comments : | I didn't have physics in HS, so it took me longer to grasp the material...however he gave great notes & really good reviews before tests. A lot of people sat in on his class as supplements to their physics class...Webassigns due everyday, but most of them are short. |

| class comments : | Regular 205 isnt bad, but matter and interaction SUCKS. Tests were hard, webassigns were hard, quizzes were easy but didnt count for much. Labs are every week and generally suck. No attendance, but going to class is pretty vital. Tests were all graded by TA's and not at all fairly at that. If you didnt get a question completely right, you pretty much got it completely wrong. If you have the option, take TRADITIONAL PY205, NOT M&I. |

| class comments : | The best part of this class is that it is Scale-Up, so instead of him yapping at us for hours on end, we actually get to work together in groups. Another plus is that the class was in G108, so almost everyone had a laptop to use and a comfy rolling chair to sit in. |

| class comments : | Class is hard, but not to hard. To do well in this class be prepared to to a lot of work. This class is scale up so everyone has their own laptop, and boring lectures are limited by class activites and surfing the web on your laptop. Book for this class is worthless and will almost never help on homework. |

| course comments : | This is a weed out course for engineers. This course was frustrating because I spent hours studying to only fail the exam. The python was stupid, the labs are long and tedious, and the homework ranges from being a 10 minute job to a 3 hour job. This department is very messed up, and this definately made me pull out of engineering. |

| class comments : | Wenniger is a nice guy and it's too bad he's teaching a course that's so messed up. If you struggle with exams, your homework + labs + attendence can help compensate for that, then the rest is dependent on the final exam (which was horrible to say the least). |
