| course comments : | I took 3 years of chemistry and was fine with the course, but I know lots of folks had some difficulty. You have to stay on your toes and keep up with the material and if you don't understand entirely, there are lots of tutoring/study opportunities, take advantage of them! |

| class comments : | I HAD an A in the class until my final ruined it. I guess you shouldn't worry though because I apparently was the first one to drop an entire letter grade as a result of the final. Tests shouldn't count for everything in an introductory level course though. |

| class comments : | Now, I've heard this guy has gotten a little easier, but when I had him there were only three tests with like 8 questions on them each. I would know an awful lot of material, get stuck on one or two questions and come out with a 70 or 80. This is the kind of class you want to avoid especially as a freshman. Get someone that puts 40 questions on a test, and you'll do alot better. |

Now, granted, i didn't try incredibly hard, but hell, it was freshman chemistry. who can blame me?. There are much easier teachers. Go for them. |

If you take this section with Dr. Brown I would recommend that you buy the book used so you can just write your notes on the space provided in the book, plus you can just highlight all the main topics. |

| instructor comments : | he was funny. perhaps you laugh AT him more than you laugh WITH him, but he'll have you laughing nonetheless. he was extremely enthusiastic about the course, which made you forget how boring it really was for a few minutes, but then it was back to reality. if he taught a good subject (good meaning one i like) then he'd be a really good instructor though. so yeah, if chem is required for you to take (why would you take it otherwise?), definitely go with brown. |
