| class comments : | The class itself would not be so bad if it wasn't for the teacher. The book sucks completely. Class always went the entire time to the minute, but there was no attendance policy. Tests were very hard, and many people thought the programs were too difficult too, although I found them okay. |

I just took the final and we have only gotten one program out of three graded, so I had to guess what my grade will be for what I needed to get on the final. | course comments : | It's pretty much just another computer science course which focuses on data structures more than anything. It's overall pretty boring, but if you know java well, then you'll do fine. I however, sucked at java. |

| instructor comments : | Bahler was not really qualified to teach this course - it was handed to him after the Rex Dwyer fiasco. His stint with bioinformatics (some statistics applied to toxicology) was actually less impressive than some of the projects and software that was developed by our class. I think they should have given this course to Heber when he arrived. (Note: I later became a bioinformatics programmer but it was in spite of this course.) |

| class comments : | Not too hard. A couple of projects. Make sure to turn in all parts of the assignment or you can only get like a 25 max grade. He will not back down on this at all. |

He is easy to understand though. Not a great teacher though, no interest in the material at all. He is just there because he has to be. |

The book was required because of the homework assignments, but I rarely found myself using the material in the book to learn the topics (except for things that he didn't have time to cover in class). |

| class comments : | Bahler has to be the worst professor I've ever had!!!!!!! For the first two weeks of class he decided he didn't even want to show up, and didn't tell anyone he wasn't coming! He answers e-mails in a timely manner, usually, but his helpful hints are nothing more than repeating what you already know in different words. | class comments : | By far the worst class I've ever taken at NC State. You could probably take this class and get an okay grade, but only because Bahler has to give tons of extra credit to pull up the low grades. He taught prolog, not AI. When I read other people's ratings, I assumed they just didn't put effort into the class. Now that I've taken it, I see that it is impossible to put effort into learning the material because Bahler makes it SOO boring. If you take this class, take aderhol. |

| instructor comments : | He is intelligent, but he teaches this course at such a low level that you can't learn anything. He speaks in a low, monotonous voice that will put you to sleep. Everyone in this class either slept or played on their laptops. Bahler is an awful instructor. |
